I am all over the place when it comes to belts. What brands do you find to have high value? What material? Handles vs blades...etc

I only buy from Sean at https://www.phoenixabrasives.com/ they are great to deal with. I go with ceramic purple belts, more expensive but will outlast others, the red and orange are good too. The fastest shippers on line anywhere. Just download the PDF catalog.

Once you place an order they will send you a catalog with your order.

They are certainly super people to deal with Mike. One time I called in an order and I used Paypal, and the girl I gave my Paypal info said she would send me a request for payment invoice... I got the belts two days before she invoiced me.
I've had two of the higher grit belts, 1000 grit and above break in the past, I called Sean and without a question he always sent me the replacement and a few more.

I'm a fan of Pop's, personally. Those guys are knifemakers and friends of mine. I like the Cubitron 2 984's for rough grinding, switch around on 120 ceramics because they're all about the same mediocrity, and I use a TON of their economy Sanyko AO belts in 120, 220, 400, 600.

Good info and thanks. For many years I've gotten mine from Jantz. However, they have cut back on some of the stuff I need.

Let me take the opportunity to promote my buddies over at Material Makers Supply. I don't remember how I ran across them, but they do have a vast of array of knife making supplies. What I really like about them shipping is reasonalbe but they ship as fast as Jantz and we all know how quick Jantz ships. The do have some scales I've never seen anywhere else. I also like the fact they are from Granbury Texas and if need something right now, I can drive and pick it up.

I've bought some Micarta and Corby bolts from Material Makers Supply. I wish that they carried a bigger selection of blade steels.
