Landowner called and said hogs had come during the previous nights of rain. I arrived and checked the property on a little tour with him and some of the damage seemed to be not just during the previous nights, but the previous night or morning. He wished me good luck and I went to get my stuff out of the truck. The sun was down but the field was in twilight as I made my first scan before leaving the truck, seeing hogs had entered the field. I slogged my way across the field through mud and standing water...

Good stalk, good shooting, good results. Maybe you should make a skunk-skin cap, eh? Or, maybe not …

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf

Nice Shooting. DNS, do you tend to see the clump of your hunting times around the solar cycles? I have never seen you mention that on your videos before. I haven't seen hogs respect those cycles so much, but then again, neither have my deer for the most part...

Nope, and to be honest, I include that information after debating with folks who claim that solunar periods are when the hogs "are really moving." I plotted all the times I was on hogs last year and pretty much it was a random distribution. https://texashuntingforum.com/forum...unar-periods-and-hog-hunting#Post7714058Solunar major and minor periods occupy about 1/4 of the 24 hour day and about 1/4 (slightly less) of the hogs I had were during solunar major or minor periods. Slightly more than 3/4 were during NON solunar major/minor periods. So my argument is that if you are only hunting solunar peaks, then you are missing our on about 3/4 of the hog hunting available because the hogs don't seem to follow solunar cycles at all. So for those who are interested, I put whether or not the critters I see are being active during solunar major/minor periods. I seem to have most of my successes when the solunar tables would have people believe are the poorer times to be hunting. How is that possible? Well, the primary reason would be because solunar tables don't actually predict hog behavior in the real world. To be honest, I put solunar tables right up there with miracle baits, Ozonics, HECS suits, lucky rabbits feet, and other purported amazing hunting products and witchcraft when it comes to hog hunting. .

DNS, my thoughts exactly on the hog activity. I have tried to watch my cell cameras and see if they have increased activity during solunar major times and I just don’t see it very often. Occasionally a doe or two will stroll through during the major times in mid day.
Does this mean they don’t respect the times? I don’t know, since they may be very active in the woods where I won’t see them. But that doesn’t really help me with hunting. I have shot more hogs just after dark than any other time, but rarely shoot them during the day. Just not common to see them out during daylight. Glad to know your “research” has shown the same I have experienced with regard to hogs

I was always taught pigs are really smart, so maybe they just choose to not read? Stubborn as a pig....doesn’t quite have the same ring as “stubborn as an ox” now does it?
