After messing and dumping two trimmers I’m at wits end. My bil suggested I look at electric ones, the recharge type.

I’m not a electric type guy cause gas imo has more balls. Do any of you use one and what do you think vs gas trimmers.

I bought a Ryobi last summer. Exceeds expectations.

What rechargeable tools do you have? It is best to try to stick with one brand and volarge so you can switch out the batteries.

We have a small one for small jobs. For the long fence lines and heavy work, we have a Stihl gas and an Echo gas. Out here in the country I need more weed eater power than city folks trimming St Augustine.

You can add attachments to the Ryobi. I have an edger, a pole saw, a blower, and a trimmer

Depends on how much weedeating you do. I'm impressed with the 40v pole saw.

At my age I wear out before my battery needs recharging.

Start buying rechargeable Ryobi and you'll have more appreciation for battery powered tools

Time to start collecting Ryobi rechargeable tools. Remember same voltage for all of them.

For the weed eater..... go 40 volt or forever wish you did.

You could look at other brands

Electric is fine unless you are doing a large area or really thick stuff.

I have a ryobi 18v that works for around the house. Have a multi use 40v that can switch to be a weed eater and tiller. That spends more time at the ranch for tougher tasks. Both work great for their needs.

I have a 40 volt Ryobi and it does everything around my half acre yard and rock wall on one charging. Brush blade attachment takes care of small stuff up to half inch or so. have the 40 volt blower and everything else including chainsaw is 18 volt brushless. Most things including the chainsaw I am needing a break before I run out of battery.

It's your money, and we are spending it wisely for you. Weedeater, chain =saw, tiller, blower, abd a fancy electric lawnmower.

For yard equipment I have used Rhyobi 18 and 40 volt, there’s a difference.

I went with Milwaukee.

If you don’t have any wireless tools to start with, pick a good brand that you might want to expand with and stick to it, so you have batteries to change out with all tools and fewer charges needed.

That being said, I have Black and Decker weed eater and sweeper that I can’t kill. I’ve had them over seven years and the sweeper isn’t great but the weed eater still works great. Over a third of an acre and it’s fine. Two lithium batteries, 18 volt I believe. Problem is, I bought them cheap when I needed a weed eater cheap and quick. I now have Bosch drills and other stuff and I wish they all matched.

I got to say my gas powered, straight shaft, echo just kicks butt! I love it. Thing fires up on the second pull every time. And it really gets it too!

Like others have said research brands before you take the plunge. I started off with an electric mower, trimmer, and blower combo from ryobi. Ended up selling the mower and going back gas, but all the other stuff works great. It kind of snowballed too. My two latest purchases is the 1/2” impact gun and the battery powered rotary tool. I’ve used the impact for a brake job on my truck and it works great. Really like the rotary tool too, great for all kinds of jobs.

Search YouTube and you will find out how to use the batteries to power an electric bicycle motor.
