Colt Delta Elite is on my gun bucket list. I have a bunch of them and would recommend using something else if you are going to be shooting a bunch of full power 10mm loads. IMHO, the Delta Elite simply doesn't weigh enough to survive the way a Glock, Sig, or S&W does.
Trolling? Heck no, I meant every word of it.

A buddy has a Glock 22 .40 and a Glock 20 10mm. He has shot deer with both of them. He said both exited and had similar sized exit holes on heart/lung shots. He said the tree behind the deer will be deader with a 10mm than with a .40 I think you should get one. Just my .02, LeonCarr

A full length guide rod and a Wolff recoil spring around 20 to 22 pounds helps to keep 10mm 1911s from beating themselves to death with full power ammo.

Just my .02, LeonCarr That's basically what I've done to all of my Delta Elites, but it will round off the lugs on the barrel and the slide after a few thousand rounds.

Not really a pistol person but I have a couple 9mm for CC and a Comp Pistol for 3 Gun and I load 9mm. I just came into a bunch of reloading supplies that included 2600 40 caliber bullets about half are Hornady XTP. Also came with 3000 pieces of 10mm brass and 12 lbs of Power Pistol powder and 8200 primers. Also came with a complete Dillon quick change that will fit my 650 progressive. But since I don’t own a 10mm not sure what I will do with this stuff.
I got a lot more stuff but I plan to keep it as I have weapons to run it.
Yes, get a 10 mm. With all those components you are losing money by not having one.

Get a Glock, David, and go for it. Chad has some great loads. And you load enough that you can do pretty much whatever you want.

Thanks for all the comments. Lined up a trade for a new Glock 20. Surprised no one mentioned Sig 220 Hunter..... friend offered me a trade on that model as well and it looks pretty nice.

Nothing wrong with a Sig. Well made pistols. I have been shooting Glock since 1985 or 86, carried one since then, and that is what I rely on because of my training. Again, nothing wrong with a Sig.

I have the Sig 220 Hunter. It’s a really nice pistol. I hunt with it and have taken several deer. I like that it is a single stack pistol. Hunting deer I don’t need as many rounds in the gun.

Get a glock 40. I didn't believe the 10mm hype until I purchased a 10mm and shot some full powered rounds. Awesome caliber

I usually just use the Remington UMC 180 grainers, and the Hornady 180 Customs. I have also shot the Buffalo 180 JHPs on deer hunts. Drop them where they stand at around 20 yards. Maybe I just got lucky with this pistol. Never have problems.

^^^^ Of the three loads that you listed only one of them is a full-powered load. The other two are basically 40 Smith & Wesson loads; I suspect the lifespan of a good quality 1911 would be hundreds of thousands of rounds if using 40 Smith & Wesson type loads. That Hornady load does come alive if you use a 6" barrel but I've never tried to figure out why.

I hunt with the Buffalo Bore stuff. As long as that Colt puts them down consistently, that;s all I care about. I shoot that thing on a regular basis.

The Buffalo Bore load is the full-powered load. If you have a long barrel like on a G40 the Hornaday load is a superb load with about the most accurate hand gun bullet you will ever use that also happens to be the best handgun hunting bullet around.
Edit: I just looked up the Hornady 180 grain load, It is not the same load from years ago that I have experience with. It is now a much more powerful load with nearly a 20% increase in velocity.
