I’ve been very interested in that motor. I love these new Powerstrokes, but the right gas motor could be worth it.

Ram HD? Truck of the year?
What are the rear end gears, gas vs diesel? same....3:55 There is the problem. That ratio works great on hwy but start stop towing 3 or more days a week would bet better off with 4:10’s. Since you don’t keep trucks long enough it shouldn’t be that much of a concern. Quit worrying about saving $20 buck a week in fuel. Maintenance cost on gas are lower and the $11K price difference isn’t justified in resale on the short term ownership route.

Went to the local ford dealership to test drive the new gas engine as i'm wondering if the diesel is the way to go for me....I love the 3/4 ton platform but never pull anything over 10k lbs. about 3-4 days a week I pull a 4k lb trailer, the poor fuel mileage and increased cost of diesel fuel is making me take a look at the gas option.
The 6.2 is a dog.....I'll leave it at that.
My review:
I was able to test drive the same exact truck I have now but with the new 7.3 liter gas. I'm a creature of habit and the fact that I can get the exact same truck in this year model is attractive to me.
Hopped in and turned the key and off I went. I immediately noticed it was a lot smoother than my diesel....presumably due to the lighter front end weight. Rode very well for a 3/4 ton...much better than my current whip. The new 10 speed transmission was seamless and acceleration was good, throttle response was very snappy. Upon getting on the highway, I gave it some gas and acceleration was impressive......its not a diesel by any means but for a gas truck it seemed to have quite a bit of power. From my sources they have de-tuned this engine and with mild upgrades you can get it to make around 550 hp, still as is, was nice. Also enjoyed the quieter ride over the diesel.
Jury is out on Fuel mileage as this one had 4 miles on the odometer and wasn't giving an accurate read....from what I hear its as good or slightly better than the powerstroke.
Def. gonna give this truck a look in the fall when i'm looking to move into something new. What was the sticker price?
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

That 6.7 diesel motor is right at $9,000. very expensive to maintain. I would look hard at the 7.3 with 10 speed. Save the dollars.

It’s got 2 or 3 overdrive gears. Run lower when needed to and have more on top end when advantageous.

I don't understand the "problem" my diesel has 3:55's as well in a 4 speed tranny I would agree with you....my truck pulls a load just fine with the 6 speed in it. And I fill up every day or every other day tops. So its not a savings aspect i'm really concerned about but its more than $20/week

Raw number on diesel v gas.
I change my oil (diesel) when told to buy truck, avg. 15K. Cost less than 100.00
This is just me :every other oil change I do fuel filter change, about 250.00 for both, oil included
There you go.

F150 oil changes every 10k miles, less than $25. What’s a fuel filter? I’ve owned more than a few of each. I love diesels but thinking financially, they don’t make sense unless you need (or want) the power to tow something or you drive a ton of miles...they do hold their resale better with a bunch of miles.

I can't even buy good synthetic oil and an oil filter for 25 for my 150 5.0 takes little over 7 quart's. How much does that eco take?

The 6.2 is a dog.....I'll leave it at that. I'm extremely interested in the 7.3 as I got out of the diesel game since it just wasn't worth it for me, and I appreciate the review. But as an owner of a 2019 6.2/4.30, I have to take exception with the above. My 6.2 is not a dog by any stretch of the imagination. Far from it. It rocks, actually, and I don't really miss my diesel at all.

I haven't shopped them, but $62k sounds outrageous for a gas F250. Wait till later in the model you and you can likely buy the diesel for considerably less than $62k.

It still pulls OK but the 4.30s would be back closer to the stock ratio with that tire size. I would have no problem trading in on another truck with a 6.2L right now. I am intrigued by the 7.3 tho.

Will there be a $10k price difference in 100k miles? I would think so. I'd stick with a diesel if I drove that much regardless of need.
I’d do some looking around at what a 2017 or 2018 diesel vs gas, same trim package, same mileage, is selling for used. I’d bet the diesel is selling for more than $10,000 more That's what I said. So if you had two identical 2017's with the same mileage you think the diesel would cost $10,000 more than the gas? That is a little hard to believe.

Do a search on autotrader right now for trucks between $40 and $50k, and you'll see gas and diesel trucks mixed in. Same models, same mileage. The maintenance and outrageous repairs of the new diesels have caught up with them. The gap widens some as mileage accrues, but nowhere enough to make up for the buyers premium any more.

Currently have 37's on old blue and I can tell a noticiable power difference vs. 35's
