Not really a pistol person but I have a couple 9mm for CC and a Comp Pistol for 3 Gun and I load 9mm. I just came into a bunch of reloading supplies that included 2600 40 caliber bullets about half are Hornady XTP. Also came with 3000 pieces of 10mm brass and 12 lbs of Power Pistol powder and 8200 primers. Also came with a complete Dillon quick change that will fit my 650 progressive. But since I don’t own a 10mm not sure what I will do with this stuff.
I got a lot more stuff but I plan to keep it as I have weapons to run it.

10mm is a very versatile round. With that amount of reloading supplies; I would probably get, at least, a Glock 20.

David, I have 5 10mm pistols, all Glock. The most fun one is the G40 in 10mm. It's a long slide and very accurate. I generally carry a G20 when hunting and I like that pistol a lot. I've dispatched many pigs and a 10mm doesn't play around. It hits them much harder than my 40 cal and 45 ACP.

I would usually say just load .40 with longshot, but with that much brass available I’d say you need a 10mm.

I also got a good bit of 40 S&W brass (1500 pieces maybe)as well as a good supply of small pistol primers and a complete Dillon setup as well.

Love my Springfield XDM OSP, I only bought it because it was going for way too cheap on GunBroker. I'd shot a friend's and started looking for them online. It was a local gun shop, so I'd save on shipping, threw a total low-ball bid and was shocked when I got the email I'd won. Scored it for almost $200 under retail. Used that money to put a Vortex Venom on top.

I've been having the same debate with myself. I may do a conversion on my Glock 21.

Yes you need a 10mm. One of the top performing semi-automatic cartridges in existence. You know ballistics, look at Chad's ammo, and look at the bullet weight and MV. It is quite peppy. If you want inexpensive and reliable, Glock. On a January deer hunt, I shot one my friend owns, the Glock 40 with a red dot. I hit within an inch of my POA at 30 yards. If you want to make a bunch of grown men drool, a nice 1911 in 10mm. I think Spingfield's is $1800 But a reliable source to me said the Rock Island is a good one, and far more affordable.

If you have all the .40 brass, you could consider the re-introduced S&W revolver\\I still love the Dan Wesson Kodiak. I held one Saturday. Its really handy, great sight radius and has a rail for Green laser
Its only $2,000

8 grains of longshot with a 180 XTP runs 1225 FPS out of my 5” Para. It’s just a book load from Hodgdon. Notice their numbers are from a 4” barrel.

That is a HOT load!!! When you are pushing a 180 grain in a 40 cal faster than you can in a 10mm, that's a lot of pressure!! Please be careful!

The Springfield TRP 10mm is a bit pricey but they make a really nice 10mm 1911 in the Range Officer Elite that can be had for $800 or so. The RIA will be $200 or so cheaper than that, with the Ruger 10mm right between the two of them. If it were me I'd get either the RO Elite or the Ruger as both are very nice American made guns. 1) yes you need a 10MM
Ruger SR1911 SS is a very nice & Accurate & Strong
I had a Delta point pro added to mine Extra Expense
if I were to do it over, knowing that I want a reflex dot - I would buy a pistol that is already setup to accept mounting plates for sights
Good luck & have fun

Tanfoglio makes some pretty schweet pistols that are CZ75 evolutions. I recently piicked up a Witness Pro for a fairly inexpensive woods gun. They're higher end models are dang sexy. I especially like the Witness Hunter.
