How many piglets in this video (a bunch...I know, but how many)?

I can open the video full screen on my computer and stop the video....so pretty sure I know how many...but let's see who gets closest.

29 or 30, hard to tell. Lots of good eating there.

So how many do you think I might be able to kill with a single shotgun blast (#1 buck from a cylinder bore @ approximately 15 yds.) pretty sure I can get that close in one stand.

At that range, a good 30 caliber break barrel air rifle will take out those little porkers without spooking the others.

Too bad an AC-130 wasn't flying overhead.

^^^^

Brilliant idea to number them. From a slightly different frame...I am still getting 29? I also tried separating them by color (dark=black...light= brown, red, blonde) I got 14 dark and 15 light. ???

What the heck...29 or 30, its WAY too many.

If that is true then there would be 31 right?

I have run the video back on my computer (full screen) and watched carefully to see that none have gotten out of the frame or are hidden behind one another.

I try to stop the video when they are most separated. Still get 29...but no matter, we will just 'average' it and call it 29-1/2 wink

It's a bunch!

There's just way too many.
When hunting, I typically just take the leg quarters and back straps, leaving the carcass for the buzzards. I cut it open to make it easier for them, but that's it.

When someone mentions that I'm leaving/wasting some of the meat I just reply "It's not a problem, they keep making more."

However, in looking at the frame Flintknapper posted and comparing it to the one I used for counting, it may just be that what I'm calling piglet #21 is really just a combination of the stripes on the back of #20 and a leaf on the ground that looks like ears. I'm not certain, but there may really only be 29.

Way too many …

^^^^^^

While true...(there is an endless supply), I don't try to justify leaving even entire carcasses for the scavengers.

First of all (in my case) I am not hunting hogs for the meat resource. I kill every hog I possibly can in an effort to reduce their numbers. They have been a scourge and caused unbelievable damage to my property over the past 30 yrs. If I had it my way, there would be NO feral hogs in Texas.

Anyone wanting the meat resource is welcome to come pick them up (dead hogs) and process them. But you'll find few 'takers' when they find out you aren't offering them pre-processed and wrapped meat.

I think all too often misguided folks feel that the animal is 'wasted' if it wasn't utilized by humans. I would argue against that. Coyotes, Fox, Buzzards, etc...have to eat also. Killing feral hogs and leaving them for the scavengers only hastens what nature has planned for the hogs anyway.

Hogs provide a source of palatable meat and a hunting opportunity for many folks... besides Deer. Unfortunately, this insures they will always be around. Great for those who enjoy hunting them. Less appealing if you are a Land Owner with a hog problem. A dichotomy of sorts.

Since hogs have been dealing me no end of misery for about 30 yrs. now, I have no problem killing them and leaving the carcasses for whatever wants them. I would welcome anyone's objection to that...as the argument will be short and pretty much one sided. Feral Hogs are not a subject for which I have an open mind or any patience.
