After I determine I may have a keeper by sighting in with a couple different types of ammo, I like to put it through a typical weekend. Carry it on my sling, spot and stalk with it, hunt from my blind and kill some stuff. I doesn't take long rides on my ATV, but will spend some time on the front rack. I like the really heavy duty Pro Series from Kolpin. This one definitely passed so I went all in with a scope upgrade and a Burris PEPR mount. I pulled my VX6 off what has become a safe queen and went with a 3rd option on ammo, 129 gr. SST over 143 gr ELDX due to OAL close to max for the mag. A quick re-zero and a field trial on the terminal performance of the bullet I have moved this one to #2 in the line up. Wilson Combat in 6.5 Creedmoor. I'll still carry my CTR (.308) for that first big buck kill of the season. This is my second AR. I wanted all the advantages of an AR, something well built that will get used hard and take it. I expected good accuracy, expectations exceeded. [Linked Image]

Great tool for the job! And great tools are reliable. It looks like yours is reliable. This is a prime example of how important the durability of the scope is, as well as the mounting system of the scope to the rifle.

These are fantastic. Mounted properly they are SOLID, zero movement and with the rubber saddle transfers very little vibration to the rifle. Your best to purchase option is AMAZON, or if you have a homedepot nearby, use HomeDepot.com, and pickup in store.

Looks good!

I think the AR10 is the most versatile rifle out there, and the perfect TX hunting rifle.

I'll definitely find out. The VX6 I moved to this rifle had a CDS dial with .308 data. At 300, only off by .8", and 2.5" at 400. I'll shoot at some pigs at these ranges and see what happens. I got good exit with the 129 gr. SST on a couple of big hogs. The sow in the pic, shot her from a steep angle and the exit was right through the lower part of the opposite shoulder.

I will look into this, I wouldn't have guessed you got the pass through....

Never purposely tested one. Slammed my old deer rifle barrel in the truck door once. It took paint off the door and door jam of the truck and took the mate blueing/coating of the barrel on each side. It was as on as its ever been.... and that's a 20+ year old Leupold VXII 3x9 sitting in... you guessed it leupold 2 piece windage adjustable rings/bases.

Look at the pic, looks like pass through to me. I could be wrong. It's low, had that been entry I don't think she would have hit the ground right there.

It may have been an excuse to take it hunting again. I have one set of those mounts you mention, on a .243, 700 BDL. Only rifle I ever let hit the ground. Fell off of a tail gate, hit the ground hard and held zero.
