I’m out on that. The diesel in question is a 7.3 from 2000 that just rolled 320,000. The only thing that made me take the 22,000 mile Ecobeast instead of that was the beast just got new tires. It’s on it’s 3rd set. It appears something is wrong with my right foot.

I had one as well 210 hp with 425lbs of torque, loved the sound, the smell, but even I have evolved. I traded the 7.3 on a 2004 in with 198,000 miles on the old beauty with only 4 years of ownership.

I was gonna get an F250 but the dealer said you got to be under 5’6” and have a huge ego so I didn’t qualify.

I had a 02' model....with the chip it made somewhere around 325 hp and 675 ft. lbs of torque....we all thought that was a beast of a truck. had 320k on odo when I sold it to a buddy who took it to 380k and sold it off....I saw it on the road a few years ago, still looked like the day I sold it.

I was at the pump the other day and a 02' F-250 pulled up next to me. Bone Stock, 31" Michelins on it, it seemed so tiny. I could see inside the bed while standing on the ground....havent' been able to do that on a superduty in awhile.

Those were great trucks for their time, Today it would be almost like driving a tractor.

I'm gonna drive the new 7.3 liter gas in a week or so....I like the diesel but reading reports the gasser is so much better offroad. curious to how it will pull a trailer?

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I mean it’s suppose to be able to tow a trailer even though 90% of people who drive them don’t even own a trailer so weight limit prob wouldn’t apply.

My wife's 7.3 only has 230k on it, hopefully a lot of life left in it.

It takes a published report for you to understand that a gas truck is better off road than a diesel?

On a side note the weight difference is about ranch hand bumpers... or tough country

I am interested in the 7.3 tremor, I feel like a locking front axle is exactly what I need to get me to where no tractor can pull me out, I like a good challenge

Haha no it doesent take a published report.

But pretty much every gas offering that ford has had since the 460 is very anemic. When a 3/4 ton diesel truck got 18-20 mpg I was all about the diesel. Now since they get 11-12 mpg not so much. They weigh about 700 lbs more than a gasser as well hence the better off road performance.

I’m gonna give them a fair shake when I’m ready to trade off my truck for something new

To be fair, off road, this new diesel is head and shoulders better off road than my old 7.3. Any slight bit of mud in the old truck would make my butt pucker. With the 37’s on this truck, I’m a lot more confident but I don’t push my luck

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

If the 7.3 is like my FX4 6.2 gasser , it will pull anything I have, stock trailer, gooseneck flatbed with Bobcat loaded, but screaming all the time. That thing will wrap the rpm's up a hill. Waaaa!

And the thread wasn't even started to debate or get opinions, I was just commenting on Ford's web site.

Thanks to TX_LT230FH and Superduty for tipping me off that maybe the problem was a combination of options I had chosen. With their comments I was able to configure it how I want.

The way vehicles amenities come in packages these days can cause trouble, certain packages don't get along with others.

I think the brand biases are funny, my dad drove fords for years. He had a bad dealing with a ford salesman and flopped to a GM buyer for 20 years and thought ford was the biggest POS ever because one dealing with a salesman. The first GM he bought after the ford dealer had a bad line hone and wore out the main bearings before the first oil change, but GM shook his hand and fixed it, he was loyal to them for many vehicles and years. I think most vehicle buying biases are based on issues not related to the actual vehicles performance or reliability themselves. For every person who has tons of problems with x brand there are a 100 that have the same one and love it.

If I ever go back to a gas truck it would either be the Power Wagon or the Tremor. I’d like to see a legit off road comparison with the 2.

The Raptor is a single purpose vehicle... that’s to make flat bill white sunglass wearing midgets feel cool.

But seriously, the Raptor vs Tremor/Power Wagon isn’t even a comparison due to vastly different setups. The Raptor is good at what it was designed for
