I have a new Remington 22-250 700 short action varmint rifle that I would like to convert to a magazine. Don't really want to spend $400 +/-. Anyone use the less expensive options (like Legacy Sports)? Anything else I could be looking at? Looking for recommendations. Thanks!

There are many options available to upgrade from your BDL to a DM. Figure out which magazines you want to run, and then select the system that goes with it. The Legacy Sports DM looks like they run an AR mag or magazine that is at max length of 2.800". That is fine for a 22-250 and it looks like it would work. But if you plan to use the magazines for another rifle, it could be difficult to seat the bullet out further in the mag. I run AI mags, and share them between 3 different rifles/calibers.
I’ve done 3 of those mag pull DBM kits that you can buy for $60 Some dremel or if you have a high speed and a air compressor you can inlet by hand if you go slow. They work pretty good for what they are..
If you like your stock, you can remove it from the barreled action and ship it to CDI Precision. Jeff will inlet your stock for free if you buy the bottom metal from him. CDI takes Accuracy International mags, and he sells them as well.

Unfortunately CDI Precision is no longer in business, Jeff passed away unexpectedly a few months back.

I did not know that. It was October the last time I dealt with him, but I have had dealings with him for about 10 years. And I have plans for several rifles he was going to get a phone call about. That is very sad to learn, he was a nice guy with a great product and great customer service.

That makes a side point, reputation and a good name in the gun world is everything. Maybe someone can carry his good name on.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

i was about to make the same suggestion. I remember calling them years ago, before they advertised free inletting on their site, and speaking to his wife. She was a very lovely woman and super helpful. I din't know his name but apparently I spoke to Jeff and he too seemed like an awesome dude. This is truly sad news. I feel for the family.
Thanks for all the help! I finally figured out something that seems to work great for me: Got a good deal on a new Magpul stock and mag well. Went together very easy and the PMAGs work great.
