My bet is that you won’t ever see a dime of that $1380 back. If you’re not a custodial parent, the AG office considers you to be the enemy of the state.
If you`re running down my country, man, You`re walking on the fighting side of me. (Merle)

Temporary orders do matter. If that is what's entered in the system then that is what you are bound by until the final decree. My first divorce took 2-1/2 years and I paid under temp orders until the divorce was final and the judge signed off. Sometimes there is a lag that effectively "back dates" the final decree. Maybe that is what happened. Maybe it's just a mistake. You don't know until you research it. If you were past due it should've affected your ability to get a drivers license and/or hunting license. Have you had an issue with any kind of licensing through the state? Mistakes happen. Maybe it won't take long to clear it up.

Someone else mentioned healthcare. There’s also childcare (daycare) that she may have incurred later and filed on. Never, ever, give her money. AG only. If you have to buy groceries or medical needs, you need to just write it off as being a dad, but there is no credits for that stuff.

I have a bad feeling the state is going to tell you your voluntary payments to her during the separation don't count toward what is in the final order and retroactive child support was applied back to the separation date. I hope I'm wrong though and you don't get punished for doing the right thing.

I don’t have an ex, so I may not be qualified to offer anything. That said, I have a long history with contracts, and it seems that a divorce agreement qualifies as a full blown contract. If you have agreed to a contract, and signed that document, what the contract actually says is what matters, and the ONLY thing that matters. It isn’t “what you think” or “what nice thing you did” or “what you might remember” as to what got agreed to. The document rules. Before you sign your name to a contract, read it very carefully every day for a week until you absolutely positively understand every paragraph and what it means and how it could come back and bite you on the butt. Look for the weasel words that might hide the intent of the other party. Don’t assume that your lawyer cares. Don’t assume that everyone or anyone but you cares. In a way, this is a contract to do you harm. Read it as if you were a judge reading it next year.
And good luck in a trying time.
Not my monkeys, not my circus...

This is why I never joined FB, was always afraid of someone popping up from my youth wanting money for kids I might of had from the 1970's.

If you changed jobs at some point, it might have taken a paycheck or two for them to start taking it out at the new job.
Sometimes they get the twice a month vs every two weeks thing mixed up. (24 paychecks instead of 26) That can leave you short 2 payments per year.
Did they take the whole refund? If not, then you can at least know you are caught up as of now.
One you get the account set up, you can get all the data going back to the beginning and start keeping up with it in a spreadsheet.

I hope I'm wrong though and you don't get punished for doing the right thing. Been there, done that. I was separated from my first wife for a year before the divorce was final. I calculated what my child support would be per the AG's Office, and during that year we were separated I paid her directly with checks, money orders, and cash but made her sign a statement for the cash. I kept all receipts filed and took that big folder of receipts with me to court. Big lesson learned....the Judge told me to take that folder of receipts and throw them in the trash. Since there were no temporary court orders in place, everything I paid her for the whole year was considered a gift. They gave her the option of either starting fresh with the child support since I was good enough to pay, or sticking me with a year of back child support. Of course, she stuck it to me. I was ordered to pay for the year we were separated (again). I said F you, I've already paid on time for the whole year and I'm not double paying......I said that until a Sheriff Deputy showed up at work swinging hand cuffs with a warrant for my arrest.

Contact the AG's office where the payments go, I have been out of for almost 20 years, but in the past the AG" office had been known to make more than their fair share of screw ups.

They retroactive his child support from the time they separated. If this were true I’d owe something like $8500. Not $1300. We had a joint account and she had access to and free use every dime I made before temp orders were in place. I can’t pay her more than that.

It’s almost ALWAYS a nightmare for the man🤔
Makes you wonder why it’s always been that way It needs to be fixed. When the laws were in place it was when women very rarely held jobs, so they'd get screwed in s divorce. Now it's the other way around, the man almost always gets screwed.

I would have to disagree. IMO, just like any other court, the one with the most money wins.
