I am getting a Ruger 57. I want a sight to use and not sure the way to go. This gun will be used to finish of a deer or hog if necessary or to say FU to a pig or coyote that comes within 35 yards of my blind. Not sure if I should go laser or red red dot. I appreciate suggestions.

Dot for sure. Depending on your budget I’d look at Burris FF3, Vortex venom, viper, razor, or a trijicon SRO.

If we're talking 35 yards why the need for optic's?

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I've tried a couple of different red dot sights. Cheap or semi-expensive, I just couldn't pick up on the dot as repeatedly as I wanted to. Trust me, it wasn't because I didn't put time in. My wife would assure you that was, annoyingly, not the case.

Then I tried a Holosun about a month ago, and I want something similar on all the guns that can accept them. The green circle dot is very easy for me to pick up in all situations. Below is the one I have, but they have a model for most mounting plates. They will be releasing a similar optic that will fit the P365XL in April.

Holosun he507c..
Look up the sage dynamics review and torture test. I wouldn't waste my time or money on anything else unless you are going to purchase the trijicon RMR. The trijicon rmr is excellent and can take a beating and keep on working.
Sage Dynamics tests all the above optics and most of them are pretty fragile. The leupold and vortex are quick to shatter the glass on any impact.
Good luck in your search

I have a Vortex Venom on my Springfield XDM 10mm and love it. Palmetto State has had them on sale for $180 for a while.

I have the holosun 508t on my FN. it’s the same as the 507c, but it’s titanium, and it doesn’t have the big white logos on it. I’ve been extremely happy with it through a couple hundred rounds.

I've been spending a lot of time on line looking at the Holosun. I think the circle dot is what I am going to go with.

Thanks for all the imput.

Wise choice
