Need recommendation for a “real” gunsmith in San Antonio, not someone who swaps our Glock or AR parts. Have a Mauser 98 would like to get rebarreled and need to get info
Thanx

It's a bit of a drive from San Antonio, but if you want a real gunsmith, travel down I-10 and visit Apache Rifleworks, close to Comfort. Real pros; indoor range; lots of gun-related goodies to fondle.

The guy that's doing work at Don's Guns (Fbg. and 410) seems to be as good as Don. I don't think Don is there very much any more. He's gotta be ancient, if still alive. I've gone there for years; suffered his, and his daughter's, abuse, and...it was always worth it. Crappy little smoke-filled gunshop, but they do good work.

I forgot about Apache, used them once in the past. Not bad drive for me, out on far west side.
I’ll have go by again and check out capabilities
Thanx

Johnny Durry is the best in San Antonio area currently doing work. Hill country rifles also turns out good work

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Hill Country rifles is a great laugh, thanks for posting

If they can’t get better groups for the kind of money they ask then they should just retire. Here is a list of garbage for $6000 plus

Johnny's brother David is a Master Gunsmith. He has several more working for him in the back. That's where I have all of my Gunsmithing done.

I have been happy with Hill Country and extremely disappointed.
I am also looking for someone in the San Antonio area that can make my Ruger Red Label quit firing both shells at the same time.
Right now it looks like Dury's might get a stab at it.
I'll be watching this thread.
