Christmas present (for myself smile. I got the Ruger Bisley because the price was good. I have a 44 Magnum S & W model 29 but I wanted the 454 Casull. I was pleasantly surprised. I does kick but I used 2 hands and not at all a "Monster". I can shoot a 44 Mag one handed but the 454 Casull, I don't think I'd want to shoot it one handed, but 2 hand is okay. That said I'm going to reload it down to 44 Mag levels and if I end up in Alaska in Brown Bear land I'll carry full power loads. So far I really like the gun. It's stainless steel (Again good for Alaska) while my S&W 29 is blued-good for West Texas.

I swapped for a FA model 83 awhile back. LOVE IT. The recoil really isn’t that bad, even one handed. I’m shooting a 300 grain Speer Deep Curl on a max charge of h110/296. A Ruger load in 45 colt cases ought to work for pretty much anything we’re going to run into in Texas.

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

Nice gun!

But why tame it down? Let that puppy eat

We have a FA 83 made in 1988 we picked up at a local pawn shop way back.
It's a little too much recoil for my liking with near max loads but the spouse has no issues.
We also have a couple of Rossi 454 lever actions that pair up nicely with it on hog hunts.

The Ruger Bisley is a great pistol , congrats on the buy.
Are going to scope it or leave it open sights? Maybe a red dot or something for bears ?

I have a Ruger 480 in a Super Red Hawk, changed the grips and it is very manageable and fun to shoot.
Enjoy

I only have the ruger alaskan. A two handed revolver with a last ditch effort to what is coming at you. My EDC.
Congrats on the 454, load it down to 45LC or stay at full. Good stuff. Congrats on the new toy.
