I get most of my information from google maps filled in with reports from drivers and customers we have out also.

Chalet covered it. We had sheet ice and then snow, won't clear up until mid day tomorrow.

you would think that after 60 years of making it rain, we would have a better grasp on the weather. Yet, they just say its going to snow in Texas and that's fine.

kennedy also spoke of weather modification in the 60s.

Best ones are people that get all the weather info off their Iphone, my wife and kids will do that. "Dad, its not going to rain until 3:12 pm today" "Look out the window, it's raining already sweetie" "That's not what my phone says!"

The media's reaction to winter weather is nothing compared to the sheer hysteria they create around hurricanes. In fact, I don't think there's any question the NWS giving names to winter storms originated with the practice being first used with hurricanes. But then, maybe it isn't the NWS that gives winter storms a name but the weather media outlets.

Wonder if the school districts used it as an excuse to burn a snow day? I understand they get X-number a year and if they don't use them it screws up their school calendar. I remember when I had kids in school they got a "snow day" in May just to use it.

You may be on to something. Teachers probably pressuring them to close as many don't want to work if they can get a free day... bolt

School Districts are required to have 189 days of classroom instruction. They build in snow days so that if inclement weather or other disasters occur they do not have to schedule makeup days on Saturdays or at the end of the school year.

There are a lot of people stuck on IH20 west of Abilene that wished they had either listened to or heard about this storm. But their missing the info made a lot money for the wrecker services.

Angel dust??

All the schools are closed tomorrow off 82 where I hunt. It's a fine line between wet and icy roads. But back in the day we all got ice so global warming now I guess... Seriously been a while for the metroplex to get the fun stuff. Once every 5 years it seems.
