Mine is St Judes. Children with Cancer. The pain and suffering these kids have to endure and some not survive is heart wrenching to me. 100% of donations go to the cause.

Any charity that promotes adoption over abortion. Again, innocent children.

We are looking into adopting. $15,000-$20,000 sure makes you think twice about that.

I like the idea of make a wish. Also like St. Jude, just don’t care for their commercials.

We have started giving direct to individuals we know that are in need. Two that have cancer, one that needed help paying medical bills after his wife died.

Do you have solid numbers on that? That’s a big improvement over what I’ve heard the going rate is.

If you’re not aware (some people aren’t,) fostering to adopt is far more affordable. You just have to be a lot more flexible on a couple things.

Children with illnesses, and I also have a soft spot for those who try hard to better themselves. Mainly Kids trying to make it through college.

I will donate to a few charities but this is the one my wife and I support and work with. When my grandson died in 2007, my son established the foundation in Joseph's memory. Medically fragile children often require lifelong care during which insurance, Medicare or Medicaid frequently do not pay for everything a child will need for health issues and development challenges. We no longer serve on the board of directors for the foundation but continue to help whenever and however we can. Check out the website if seeing people helping parents meet the challenges of raising medically fragile children makes you realize there are still good people in this world.

Make a wish foundation.

While my brother was fighting cancer he was gifted a wish from Make. a wish. He chose to go on a Disney cruise with the family. The joy he got out of that while fighting for his life is why I donate to them. He ended being terminal after almost 3 yrs of fighting and died at 8.

They Support America's Wounded Veterans & First Responders & the family of the fallen. Accessible homes for those that have come home without limbs, mental help\support, and amazing things for the survivors of the fallen.

This is not a foundation that Gary Sinise made a big donation to so he could get is name on the letterhead...this guy also gives incredible amounts of of time, year in and year out.
The Lt Dan Band is part of the foundation...the ONLY thing the do is perform for our troops , special concerts for surviving kids, and fund raisers for their foundation. Gary and over half the band perform without pay!


Charity Navigator is a watchdog group that monitors and rates non-profits, according to the transparency of how money is spent, what percentage of the money raised goes to their cause, and similar. Go to the link and type in Gary Sinise Foundation...there is no other charity that scores higher.

I met this guy at a SnowBall Express function a few years back. He is the real deal and does this from his heart.

Disabled American Veterans has been my choice for decades.

I am also a big supporter of any reputable charity that supports the battle of pediatric cancer. Having personally gone through 5 years of intense Leukemia with my son from ages 2-7, I saw firsthand the physical and emotional toll pediatric cancers can have on families, the afflicted and their loved ones. With only 3% of available govt. medical research funding going to pediatric cancers, it has always boggled my mind. Childhood cancers are almost exclusively all non-inherited, non-lifestyle driven afflictions which is almost entirely the opposite of adult cancers; instead childhood cancers are nearly always the result of "genetic mutations" or "genetic anomalies" which truly makes these afflicted children the "innocent" ones in this mess of cancer and disease. With childhood cancer the "normal" circle of life is turned upside down and life as you knew it forever changed. My son and the family had the opportunity to take a Make a Wish trip to Disneyworld over Thanksgiving in 2011 when he was 6 years old and it was "first rate/first class" all the way around. The joy that he and the other afflicted children experienced, as well as the parents is something that I will never forget.

I belong to the "100 Man Give A Damn" chapter in my area. We meet once a quarter & watch 3 local charities from my area give a presentation. Each presenter is limited to 8 minutes. Afterward we vote on which charity should get our money. Once the winner is announced each attendee writes a check for $100 directly to that charity. No overhead, it goes directly to the charity. Money stays local & at the start of the next meeting, the winning charity reports back on how it is spending the money. The whole meeting takes about 1-1/2 hours & is usually held at a local brewery so you get a beer or two & there is some good fellowship going on. Attendees now easily exceeds the 100 man donor target.

I make a nice donation to the Salvation Army every year around Christmas. It is my Christmas present to myself.

I don't donate money to any charities. I'll volunteer from time to time - mainly with Ronald McDonald House

Otherwise I usually give directly on a case-by-case basis with 99% of it being to labrador rescue groups.
