Wife and I are looking at some property in Lamar, Red River, and Bowie. Ive hunted west texas almost all my life. How is the dove hunting in NE Texas? Can you plant sunflowers? Just hunt clearings near water?

Bowie is good, hit or miss.
Birds seems to stick around longer closer to the wichita falls area but you will compete with existing outfitters holding more planted fields.

Appreciate the answer, but i meant Bowie, lamar, and red river counties. Guess I should've said counties. Bowie, oddly, isnt in Bowie county ha.

My experience with east Texas is there are isolated fields that will hold dove but.....nothing, and I mean nothing like west Tx holds

Not the county your asking about. But we’ve had decent luck in cass county on the first split, never see many during the second split.

I grew up in SE TX (around Houston) and now live in South TX (San Antonio area) and can honestly say...the dove hunting in South TX is MUCH better than anything in SE TX...
