Sure had a bunch of pics of this bunch from the past few days on my cameras. Very few young ones, but bunches of REALLY fat sows ! They aren't showing up with any kind of regularity, and have no interest in the traps at this point. I guess they are just working the acorns still and like a little corn now and then when they happen to trip over some. All the pics I am getting right now are between 1:00 and 3:00 A.M. ….I don't keep the times and dates on the cameras up to date on all of mine, so the date and time on the pic is not right.

Maybe it’s a moon thing... I had quite the gathering at my spot last night. First time in several weeks I’ve seen this... Also odd is there are no little ones as has been the case for me 2+ months now.

Same for me Charlie.....not seeing much in the way of little ones, but the sows are all fat as can be and pregnant looking too.

Interesting - I saw this post yesterday and it made me wonder where my pigs went. Almost like the sounders disappeared since the beginning of the year. Only a few pics of lone boars since then. Checked my cam this morning - looks like they are back. This is a new group. Last group looked like a couple of sows and a lot of babies. Maybe it is a moon thing... heh.

Still amazes me how resilient they are. Took 17 pigs last year. Don't see any difference in population based on the pics in 2020 so far... though I guess at least the population hasn't grown. I didn't start using thermals until halfway through 2019 - curious to see what the population will look like in January of 2021 after a full year of thermal hunting.

On my place in southern Brown County I have not had a problem with hogs for several years. Occasionally would see one or two on game cams, but never large sounders. I started seeing some sign early last year and trapped a large boar, and poof, no more sign. Well, now that seems to have changed. Last week my neighbor saw a sounder that he estimated at about 40, and I am starting to see some damage in my pastures. Not terrible, but definitely activity. Not sure why we have been spared for the past 5 years, but time to get on top of it if they are back.

About 8:30 last night I nailed another boar about 200 lbs., but that isn't really taking care of the problem. We have such heavy cover, that one shot and the rest are gone immediately into the dense growth nearby. I need them to start getting into the traps again !!

I think the pig hunting will pick up in February. In the area I hunt near HIco, the pigs are mostly coming out at night. Early in the deer season, they were also seen during the day. There are still acorns on the ground. The area is hunted hard during deer rifle season, and should improve soon.

Pigs aren’t really coming to our feeders either. Neither are the deer. Just been too warm and like most said, they are still feeding on the acorns. Pigs have been rooting near our camp on the property quite a bit.

On my old lease in Stephens County, we would only see pigs after a heavy rain. Sometimes I think they go to normally drier areas after a rain for new rooting opportunities.

Update to my post above. Went out last week and we have quite a few coming in now. A bit of cold and maybe fewer acorns is helping.
