Seems like this is the route everything is going..I've done a lot of looking around online but still don't quite understand these and all the options and comparability..can someone please dumb it down for me? And are arca and rrs just different brand names for same system? I would like to keep up with the new equipment and also switch my binos to this to use on tripod. I've put pic rails on some of my "traditional" stocks where you use the tee-nuts to secure it which has worked great. But when shopping for arca/rrs rails they are all longer than needed, like at least 8". Why would I need that much rail to attach to bipod or tripod?

It is heavier and bulkier than a ball head, but it was designed for shooting and not cameras, like the ball head is. Just my
