About to start re-reading some Michener again. In particular, I really enjoyed The Source, Alaska, Carribean, Chesapeake, and Texas.

I am about to start The Source first because it has been 45+ years since I read it and the historical elements are relevant in many ways today. Next will be Centennial because I have not read it.

Currently reading Midnight in Chernobyl:The Untold Story of the World's Greatest Nuclear Disaster by Adam Higginbotham. Really enjoying it so far and they dumb down/explain the physics components enough for me to understand.

I just got through reading The Day of Battle, by Rick Atkinson. It reports on the WWII Italian campaign, and was a real eye-opener for me. I'm a bit of a student of WWII, the Korean and Vietnam conflicts but I had never read any in-depth accounts of the battles in Italy. I knew about the nasty weather and the Casino battles, but didn't understand what a costly, brutal, and poorly managed the whole conflict was, from Sicily, all the up the country during those deadly 608 days. There were 23,501 Americans killed in action; a truly sad number to consider. And the conditions under which they fought were horrible. Rain, sleet and snow for weeks on end. Malaria outbreaks along the coast near Anzio. I know that war is hell, but the war in Italy was about as hellish as I've ever read about.

I'm currently reading "13 Hours," by Michael Zuckoff, "Gettysburg" by Stephen Sears and "Endless October: Short Stories from a Traveling Bird Hunter" by Randy Schultz.

That entire trilogy (An Army at Dawn, The Day of Battle, and The Guns at Last Light) by Rick Atkinson is great. The most comprehensive WW2 (at least from the American side) history books I have ever read.

I got a free western called Killer Miller to spread out my cost on the Jack Reacher. I'm reading one for awhile then switching to the other. Looks as if I hit the jackpot. I really like Killer Miller.

Hey Bill I’m in a Reacher book right now. Prolly my 12th Reacher. So I was wondering who had the higher body count Jack Reacher or Mitch Rapp? Unfortunately we won’t see anymore Vince Flynn books so Reacher probably wins with more missions.

I’ve read them all and Reachers body count is impressive in the last one. Gotta look and see who Mitch Rapp is now.

Bill if you like that type western read William Johnstone. He also has a series called ashes that starts out good but fizzles into redundancy by books 4 or 5. There’s almost 30 in that series. The first book was really good.

This one might have fallen through the cracks for me. Don't remember reading it. Like the price, plus yesterday was payday.
