Have never seen any thing close to it here before. I put some acid on it and it foamed like limestone but it feels heavier than limestone. Any idea? And no, I am not calling it a relic.

Cretaceous limestone. Possibly 'Glen rose formation'. Older and darker than Edward's formation. That's my guess. If it foamed it is limestone.

The smoothness makes me think of something that was under water. Maybe broken off a larger smoother rock

How long did it take you to pull it out of the creek? It took a few weeks. Had to rent a backhoe. Then it rained. I had rented the backhoe before it started raining and while waiting for the creek to go down I ran out of money and had to return the backhoe. I advertised on craiglist for investors and got some really good replies. I sent them money but found out from the wife that they were supposed to send me money. So to make a long story short until I receive a cash influx the project in on hold. Any body want to get in on this once in a lifetime chance to make some real money?

might be Tektites or Hematite... what part of the state did you find it? and about how big is it in size? In Bandera. It is about 4 inches in diameter. It just looked strange being in all the tan colored limestone.

Down on the neighbors creek there is a 30 foot long 4' diameter petrified tree. Wish I could excavate it. Gotta' be worth big money.
