I'm wanting to go out to Sam Houston NF to scout and hog hunt while I'm there. I have no idea where to find hogs out there. Never found a deer either but I know they are there.

Never got chance ta hunt thar.. On ones first time did hunt... i have TOPO USA, looked for creeks, funnels, change of topotree, & such... Hogs travel around creeks... Put in the cordinance of areas want ta check out. Area ta park. Then run threw printer. & cary with. Had GPS any sign seen, rubs, wallows trails wrote cordinance down on pocket note book for further refferance. Thick areas, tall grass, downed trees, they like switch cain, pollmedow plants.. Bigfoot has had several threads of that area, & tis sure several others can giv the better points than me. Best wish's Keep your head held high & your powder dry... Looking forward ta hearing from ya. Not able ta b thar, but enjoy the stories...

to answer Colt's question, i've sure been takin advantage of this covid thing. Gone to the wma more than ever this year. They had to run me out of the state park when it closed, me and another camper were the last ones ousted. Stuck a few pigs, not brought a single pig home - thick stuff and I probably need practice and a couple prayers too. headin out tomorrow with the corn and thermacell. If anyone has a place to shoot pigs I'm willing to come out and pay some. Would like to see a pig I shoot. Most places I've seen that are reasonable are far north and trying not to drive 8 hours. please pm me if you have any ideas where to shoot a few. anyway i'm going to keep roaming the wma as a backup plan as it almost seems the pigs start to let their guard down when it gets warmer. and the state parks are back open for camping.
