Recently bought Under the Black Flag. Non-fiction about pirates. Pretty pumped about that one.

Oxner, check out The Far Empty, High White Sun, and there’s a third one in the series that I can’t remember the name of. The first two are excellent books with the third being ok. Set in west Texas. J. Todd Scott is the author, he is also a border patrol agent so the stories are very realistic.

I just stumbled upon a western that sounds pretty good. I think it was free from Bookbud.

I’m wary of free kindle books. Usually means they suck.
Speaking of suck, James Patterson is terrible.

Ive read all the Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch books and love them. Just finished the most recent one and didn't like it near as much. If you read the first chapter of the first book in series(Appaloosa) when Everett says "I remember the first time I saw Virgil Cole shoot" and you are not hooked then just stop reading cause its not for you. On Bills advise I also reread To Kill a Mockingbird recently. All I could remember about it from grade school was Boo and the trial and shooting the dog-lots more to it than that.

Where The Cradads Sing is the best book I've read this year. I read it for a second time and enjoyed it more. It has not been the number one best seller all this time for nothing.

I have to agree - great read. I'm currently reading the Paw Patrol series. Not exactly Pulitzer Prize level stuff but my granddaughter likes them.

Always liked the book threads for getting ideas. Haven't been reading as much as I used to and have been trying to get back into the habit I had before.
Finished up God is Not Great by Christopher Hitchins and I picked up the Hobbit the other day as I never did read it as a kid. Have the Fall of Giants and The God Delusion to read after that if I dont keep going with the Hobbit series.

Just finished "Black Hearts," about 1-502nd IN, 101st ABN DIV in Iraq, 2005-06. I was with the 101st in Iraq during this same deployment and remember many of the events from an outside perspective.
