Great season, 31 hunts, 142 ducks. Below is a summary of my hunt log, and some pics from this week...Also see foot note on ringers..
[Linked Image]

This is the second year in a row I did not hunt last day of season, I kinda like it to chill and put all my hunting stuff away. Below is yesterday, my last hunt of the season...Beautifull day, great ender...
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

Friday...should have had my 5 mallards, whift on 2 early...
[Linked Image]

Thursday...this was a great hunt, cane already there I just pull in and hunt it. Tara I would pull her in the boat by the collar, and she would hold the bird the whole time and proudly pose for the picture...
[Linked Image]

Last Sunday, best hunt of the season with tdogg and his buddy... We scouted all afternoon Saturday and did not find any ducks till the very last spot, about 100 mallards. And they decoyed perfectly the next day....Several groups came in and my trigger was frozen, took me a while to figure it out, kept thinking I was not pushing my safety button all the way. tdogg was cuzing me "damit Guy why are you not shooting!!". grin

Congrats on a good season!

Ringers are a ball to shoot, especially on a small tank where they come screeching in.

I would say this was a pretty good season. Ended with 140 birds as a group in 31 hunts. All hunts took place on public land. I hunted solo in all but 3 of those hunts and shot 123 birds my self. No bands this year. My Golden came along way especially towards the end of the season. She'll do even better next year and i look forward to getting my 7 year old daughter out next season for some hunts. I also didn't hunt today, started to put gear away and get the garage re organized. September seems so far away but will be here in no time.

Here are some of my favorite pics from the season

Had a few good hunts. Didn’t go as much as I usually do. Combination of things.

Nice pictures and recaps.

Awesome pics. You always do a great job documenting every hunt. I'm normally just worried about the next group of ducks lol. I did however get this pic from Tara's legendary retrieve. Green head went down 300 yards from the spread. Last retrieve of the day so we decide to let Tara take a crack at it. Guy grabs Tara and points her down range, and sends her back on a solid cast. She went back and after 4-5 corrections, and thinking we were crazy for sending her this far in the middle of the lake, she tracked down the bird. This pic is the two of them looking in awe of what just happened. It was an amazing retrieve and a great end to a legendary hunt.

Hunted less than I ever have this year. Had a target buck I was chasing from start of season until I killed him on Dec 16, which was the same day of my first duck hunt of the season.

Hunted 2 days before Christmas, 2 after, 3 hunts New Years Week and 3 days the last 2 weeks. 10 hunts total..5 on public and 5 at my deer lease. All public hunts took place on the same body of water, which is extremely unusual for me. Normally hunt 6-8 different lakes.

It was the year of the wigeon for us as they were our top bird.

Wigeon - 39
Teal - 19
Gadwall - 18
Spoonie - 10
Pintail - 9
Ringerers -5
Cans - 3
Mallard - 1
Redhead - 1

Total - 105
# of Guns - 27
Birds/man AVG - 3.89
Birds/hunt - 10.5

My worst season. 62 birds I shot 52 of them . I hunted 23 times and had 5 skunks. Surprisingly I only hunted 5 times in January. I thought I would get 10-15 more hunts in but other factors kept me from hunting. First split was by far the better part of my season. My boat will sit the way it is for about a month while I work on other stuff then I'll get around to putting all my crap up....then get ready to catch some crappie.

I had a fun season started taking my six-year-old daughter out hunting with me. My pups first full season. Hunted more this year than I have in several. Enjoyed it looking forward to next year!

Started off the season getting eaten up chasing a buck, which thank goodness I was able to put down in early December. Following that, we had a pretty good season, hunted my pup for her second season, and can finally say it is all together. She knows the drill now and loves it, so it made it super enjoyable.

Pretty good year for me.

I shot 54 birds this year on 14 hunts. All public with the exception of 2. Those 2 private hunts actually brought my average down.
3.86 Birds/ Hunt
GWT- 5 Drakes, 6 Hens
BWT- 7 Drakes, 3 Hens
Gadwall- 6 Drakes, 4 Hens
Shovelers- 4 Drakes, 5 Hens
Wigeon- 2 Drakes, 2 Hens
Mottled- 3 Drakes
Wood- 2 Drakes
Ring Neck- 1 Drake, 1 Hen
BlueBill- 1 Hen
Mallard- 1 Drake
Snow (Blue)- 1

If you stay ready, you don't have to get ready!

The last hunt. Rosie had a great season. I did find a couple of areas where she needs some work so I'm looking forward to that during this offseason.

This season has been amazing. Any time I'm out in the duck blind I feel blessed beyond belief. So many awesome sunrises, and memories made. This year I was fortunate enough to get to hunt with my pops two different weekends, and with Guy more times then he probably wanted. LOL. Here is a couple of the memories made over the season. I'll start with the fact that Guy is an amazing cook. The pics below are him cooking juevos rancheros that was out of this world.
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
The next few pics are of Tara (Guy's dog). She seemed to get better every single hunt. It was unfortunate that she had an injury that kept her out for a few weeks, but she rebounded and was able to hunt all January. Every time I hunted without her I sure did miss her.
[Linked Image]
She is hands down the best dog I've ever seen tracking ducks. This shows her on point as me and Guy shoot the bull in the blind.
[Linked Image]
This pic was from her legendary retrieve of that green head I spoke about earlier. Seriously that was an amazing retrieve and to this day can't believe she got that duck. Just awesome. If you have ever been around Tara in Guy's truck she seems pretty mean, but in all reality she is a big sweet heart. Here's a couple pics of Guy using her as a blanket.

Finally the last pics few pics are some stack pics from this season. The straps are full in most these pics, and my smile says it all. Cherish all the hunts you are fortunate enough to partake in, especially with your life long hunting partners. You never know when it might be your last.

The 2019-2020 hunting season is one I'll never forget. I already miss it, but am grateful for another safe and successful season. Till next year...
