A lot of folks break open their O/U shotguns when crossing obstacles, busting through brush, etc. Seems like a common thing to do upland hunting. Magnets stop shells from falling out. I break mine open all the time when walking through briars or sitting on a log to take a break. Magnets aren't a game changer, but I can see value in them.

Anyone know of Manufacturer? TIA What's magnetic in a shotgun shell? There is a good chance that STEEL SHOT is magnetic!

The so called brass is not brass on most shells it is steel. We use a magnet to pick up all of our hulls when hunting. Easy enough to learn to hold the barrel down so the shells don't spill.

If breaking the OU’s over in brush is the traditional way to do things, I guess it makes sense. It doesn’t seem practical though.

What's not practical? I hit a lever, break open the old sucker, and stick my thumb over the shells. Climbing over a log or fence, I do the same or empty it completely. Same climbing up creek banks or whatever. Takes 1 to 2 seconds and completely nullifies any chance of a negligent discharge. I don't know if its traditional to do it that way, but I was taught safety first and there's lots that can go wrong when I'm hunched over trying to duck under vines while my feet are all tangled up in briars. I'd rather take a couple seconds to open the scattergun than run even the smallest risk of shooting my dog or myself. I can't speak for what semi guys do, because only an uncouth barbarian chases upland birds with such a contraption. Anyway, I think CZ is marketing to waterfowlers... limited space in the blind and not wanting to point your barrel anywhere other than up. I don't know. If they made one in the Bobwhite with shorter barrels a d maybe in 28 gauge, I might get one for woodcock next season. Otherwise I'm not really the intended market.

I showed this thread above after I found it. The guns are not out yet. They are all back ordered.

Anyone know of Manufacturer? TIA What's magnetic in a shotgun shell? Well the brass is just a coating over the steel hull base. That’s why shotshell retrievers are magnets on a stick.

I’m trying to figure out what problem this solves. Not something I would buy but I see the utility. Hunting in a layout blind, keeping the muzzle down while loading or closing the gun is not always possible when you are already on the ground. Same in a blind with only a tight opening at the top. You learn to use your thumb or dump shells. In my experience, break action shotguns are quicker and easier to make safe and put back in battery around bird dogs and the right ones point quicker, but at the cost of some ergonomic issues in a blind.
