Tis a thinking most of the deer seasons tis over, except maybe, muzzleloader...
In the general hunting section, when first got on texasHF would occasionaly see were people were looking for hog hunts. Mostly do ta the tv shows, like Hogs gone Wild, & such..
Theirs several places that offer hog hunts in the outfitter section. Twas pushing the hog hunts on the WMA's.
Tis were did majority of my hog hunts... They NOT what i call execative hunts. Their affordable, $48.00 permit & can be some of the most exciting hunts.
Have hunted several of the WMA's in the booklet in the NE part of the state, never had a problem finding hogs, twas work getting em out.
Always looked forward ta the hog only any legal means hunts after deer season ended. Would do the leg work for next years deer hunts, not bothering others during the season. All the signs, trails, scraps, rubs, droppings, food sources, & such were thar. Often found sheds, & it twas chance ta put some food on D grill & D freezers.
Twas just currious how many hunters, rofl tis a hunting forum, take advantage of the public hunting land.
Twas always my place ta go for hog hunts, would plan each year, the deer-hog hunts, using Topo USA. Always had good luck, & enjoyed wondering about the woods...
Would like ta Moderators for thar time & efforts.
Best wish's ta all.
Keep your head held high & your powder dry...

I have 34 acres for private but spend most of my time on public. I've come to enjoy it more.

HuntTheTexas, until you have been on here for a while and have over 11000 posts, show some respect to Colt.45!

I've never seen a hog in the wild. I don't think they're out there. peep

But seriously, as a novice hunter - I've seen some sign in river bottoms and edge, but never a real live hog on public land.

My brother and I went up to Fannin Lake WMA and chased some hogs last weekend. Saw tons of sign, but only ran into one small group. Never got a shot on them because they were in some THICK brush. We are already planning a trip back in better weather.

Yep. Barker Reservoir aka Bush Park.

I already wrote 2 letters to the Army Corp of Engineers, but never got a response.
TPWD already said they have no say-so in the matter.

I'm thinking of writing to Congress now, but dang...

Have you checked the army corps website?

I forget the area I am in here in Dallas, but they do a pretty good job of having hunting regulations up, and I've called a few different numbers, either talked to someone immediately or got a call back that day.

cheers ah D beauty of texasHF Freedom of Speech...
Ya also have D freedom NOT ta read me threads nor posts...
No harm done...
scratch As mentioned in other threads in post.
WMA & Public Land can be some of the best hog hunts. Do ta the restrictions.
No hunting at night & No baiting vs the 24-7-365 hunting & baiting on surounding privete land.
While a few do offer baiting for hogs for a month, scratch think its archery only hunts. &
some still allow coon hunting at night, keeping the hogs on move...
Can often find the hogs beddded up in the thick hard ta reach away from the atv trails... Reason say Not an Execative Hunt, (sitting in a box stand waiting).
Finding hogs always been easy, just gotta do the leg work, work begins getting em out for grillen & chillen.
Back pack worked best for me, backstraps, quarters, no gutting, with liner in back pack...
Best wish's ta all.
Just a thread for those looking for hog hunts... Pardon me grammer...
i gots ta B me, noone else wants the job...

Huntthetexas. Colt has somewhat of a following because people believe but he's just a dumb Yankee. Which is what he likes to project but if you look way back in his original post when he first came here they're nothing like this.

I like colt and appreciate his insight on subjects, but man his posts are painful to read. I can't understand why someone would type that way. But he's always around to help people out and give decent advice. Plus, people can type however they please.

But, man. I really wish he didn't type that way and it would hurt my eyes less to make sense out of it.

Just a simple tread ta inform others about public land hog hunts..
worthless
So heres a pic of one of me on a hog hunt at OSBWMA with Kentucky Jr...
[Linked Image]

back
Deer season tis over, confused2 tis a hunting forum...
& public land offers so exallent hunting...
Chance ta help out with the hog problem, & put some food on d grill & in d freezer.
A nice slow stalk & scout in the rough outa the way areas, & learn the terain...
Can lead ta some fast acting activity... Finding the bedding area's, downed trees, tall grass, switch cain, & palmedow plants... & at times can come across a small ta large sounder moving...

Huntthetexas, & others. Me grammer can be tough ta translate for some.. confused2 i b a simple person, not fancy with words, but most can figure what tis typed... Some do have issues, General Hunting & the Hog Hunting
Sections whin first got on here had people looking for hog hunts, & i replied with the WMA hog hunts. Tis were did my hunts, plenty of action if ya not afraid ta put in the effort... Twas the reason got on texasHF see if any one wanted ta do some hog hunts...
Like ducknbass mentioned have had many threads about hunting the WMA's for hog hunts...
