Now that I am hunting predominantly in the Hill Country as opposed to the Piney Woods I have the opportunity to take much further shots. In a effort to make my rifle more accurate I am upgrading this offseason. My rifle is a Remington 700 in 7mm Rem Mag. I have purchased a Trigger Tech Primary and will be buying a Leupold VX5-HD in the coming weeks. The last purchase will be a new stock. I am looking for suggestions on both what type of stock to buy to maximize accuracy and where to buy. Many thanks!

Game Scout would be perfect. I would order from them and get exactly what you want. The have have a ton of color and Camo Options.

That’s the first question. Boyd’s AT-one is probably the cheapest worth upgrading to, it’ll be better than factory Tupperware or wood, but not my much. But if you’ve got $500-$1000 you have a massive selection to choose from.

Manners and/or McMillan (sp?), but, truthfully, a day at the range with someone like JGFireman will do you more good.
I also have a Remington 700....had it blueprinted, bbl lapped, custom ammo but scrimped a bit on the stock and went with a Hogue (which I still like very much)...a day with JG, cheap stock or not, and I was able to take advantage of the work done and easily walk it out to 800 yards which I wouldn’t have been able to do before.

I was thinking $300-$400 but what I've seen suggested above far exceeds that number.

Save a little more and you could go with the McMillan Game Scout, like Scott suggested or the Manners EH-1.

In any case, I strongly recommend a vertical grip. It is far more ergonomic, and provides better trigger control. Both of those recommended are extremely lightweight, yet very stiff. And stiff keeps the forearm from touching the barrel, which is paramount.

Agree. 300-400 won't get you a really nice stock. If your are going to drop that much on a Leupold V5 HD, spend a little extra for a Manners or a McMillan.

If you don’t mind a Chassis you can get a XRay for around hour budget. Also includes bottom metal to accept AICS mags. It’s rock solid.

The McMillan Game Scouts are good looking stocks. I guess I will have to do some saving. Thanks, FiremanJG, I appreciate your info.

You can try to find a used Remington PSS or Sendero take-off stock. Those stocks are made by HS precision with full length aluminum bedding blocks. They are a great stock and can usually be picked up for around 300 bucks.

Stockys stocks will have many choices in your budget.
Bell and Carlson medalist stocks all have aluminum bedding block, may get an actual steel bottom metal if you decide to get one of those so you can properly torque the action bolts. If you would like a detachable mag, the KRG Bravo chassis is in your budge, well very close and it offers a lot of modularity that many of the high dollar chassis systems offer it’s about $450 for a long action remmy.

Mc3 stocks made by McMillan are pretty nice. Feel like a a3-5 but with like hs style material.

The KRG Bravo is a hell of a deal for the money. I really like the one I put on my custom 22 Creedmoor.

I'd recommend Stocky's house brand stock with Accublock. I've got two for sporter barrel Rem 700's and they've been great.

I forgot about those. That would be in the OPs budget as well.

Grayboe, HS Precision, B&C are all good stocks for under $400. You can find good deals on Ebay....I've bought B&C and HS Precision stocks for around $225-250.

Here's a pretty nice one for $287....

Considered M.G. Arms in Spring?

All but 2 of my rifles wear their stocks.
