I first came across Dallas based Reeder Products in my youth
when I was racing motorcycles. All the fast kids were racing with Reeder Sprockets. Later when I started building, racing and flying aerobatics in experimental aircraft and off-roading, Reeder was always available to build whatever custom part the flyboy or off-road community needed. Even though they were a busy aerospace and defense contractor providing a good life for 50 local Dallas employees, before he sold off his contracts and retired, Don Reeder always took the time to help small local makers out with our builds.
As a longtime local maker, I was super excited when Don recently came out of retirement and with his son Greg, they re-launched Reeder Products. As many bladesmiths already know, they design and manufacture a world class 2x72 sander/grinder in Texas. Their father/son shop is in the DFW area, near the Addison Airport in Carrollton. It’s perfect for bladesmiths, makers and artisans.
I’m working with Don and Greg on some fun videos and photos that we’ll be sharing soon. In the meantime here’s a quick overview of the Ultimate Reeder Grinder for those not already following. Please let me know what you think. Also, if you happen to already use a Reeder Grinder, please reach out as I’d love to see your work.
