I hear buddies talk about the need to carry a backup. Anyone here carry one and if so, what gun and how do you carry?

I always have a pistol on me, always. It’s been that way for 14 years while on the job, it’s just a part of me.

I knew a guy who carried 4 pistols at a time. All were the little KelTec 32's or some small round. But he had 4 of them! I don't carry a BUG, but I often have a second (or third) pistol in a vehicle.

Don't carry a 'back-up' when hunting. Always have a 'BUG' when carrying...which is almost daily for the last 24 years. High Capacity .45acp for my primary, usu ally a .380 for a BUG.

I carry a back up when I'm hunting, (waist mounted) but not when I'm just cruising around with my carry piece strapped to me.

Either that or they are LEO, or CIA, FBI, Gobmnt contractor in Syria, etc. If I was one of the aforementioned, I most certainly would carry a BUG or two. As I am just your average Joe LTC holder, I see a BUG as overkill. Situational awareness is my main weapon. My EDC is not a Primary fighting weapon. It is not a service weapon. It IS my back up.

I am just the opposite. I always carry a BUG. I may not carry a larger weapon depending to the circumstances or environment but I ALWAYS have my BUG.

EDC. I hope they don’t need a backup whole hunting since they typically have a rifle and pistol on their person. While hunting, or as EDC?

Carry a reliable pistol daily, conduct routine maintenance on it, the magazines and change out ammo as needed-- no need for a back up to an EDC.
99% of people saying you need a 2nd gun for EDC would probably be better served using that belt/pocket/purse/backpack space for a TQ, CPR kit, spare mag, or knife.
I've needed/used my medical supplies/training way more in the civilian world than I have needed my EDC.

Only when hunting with shotguns......at least 50% of the time a someone in the group will have a problem with a cheap gun or cheap ammo, it comes in handy.

Agreed, always have a spare shotgun, unless I am right here at the house. If I have driven more than 20 minutes, have a back up shotgun. I nearly always have a 2nd rifle when deer hunting, at camp or in the truck. Sometimes it's just a lightweight, or sometimes I have a 2nd 308 with me. Depends on the places I am hunting. I carried two always when working. Today as a retired old fart, I sometimes carry one , never two. Might have two with me on a trip, if so a true concealed carry and a full size.
