Jan 18th it was, but I didn’t know. I’d have gone to Fredericksburg just to see what it was all about. Thin sliced and fried, they are pretty good.

We were in F-burg on the 19th to take the kiddos to the elephant preserve in Stonewall. Wanted to go Saturday so we could go to the festivities but the elephants were booked. I was already giving up one day of hunting, wasn't gonna give two.

Mountain oysters

Went to a buddy’s house near here a few years ago. They were having a big cookout, with steak, catfish, fries, and something that looked like fried pickles or jalapeños. I love fried jalapeños, so was eating the heck out of something. Didn’t know what it was, but it was very tasty. I was happily munching away, when my bud asked if I knew what I was eating. Nooooo, says I, and he told me what it was. I hesitated for a heartbeat or two and then went right back at it. Heck, already ate half a pound of em, so no point in getting picky now.

Had some at Toby Keith's Bar in OKC last week.

Oh wait. Either way tasty.

Cutting calves next week and we will be eating them.

Reminds me of a trip to the lease many years (about 50) we were having a calf fry and had a member bring a guest. Guest was not told what he was eating till he had eaten SEVERAL. When told he ran outside and puked his guts up. Never came back to visit us at the lease.

Calf fry in Lubbock was always fun.

At The "World Champion Goat Cook Off" in Brady you could always find some goat fries.

Before Giant Burger, it was the Roadrunner, and they had great calf fries. It was the late 90’s and the only game in town. We ate there often and I usually had the calf fries.
