Anybody here raise rabbits? Used to when I was a kid, think I'm fixing to put a hutch in the backyard and get some breeders.Probably not going to butcher any, maybe let the kids help raise and sell a few litters.

You can seel the carp to gardeners , its gold in the garden and doesn't burn. A couple folks on you tube have built hutches that "automatically " catch and bag the poop. Pretty simple once you take the predators out of the equation.

Don't name them.

Yea, I remember them being pretty easy. . Figure I'll build a hutch, get a couple doe and a buck and see what happens. Was thinking about raising them to eat but no way the girls will let me kill cute little bunnies they raise, prob just sell them on facebook or something.

Rabbits are like chickens, they are part of the food chain. When stationed stateside growing up we had rabbits and chickens in the backyard. They both landed up fried on the table. The feed store for the chicks, the rabbits were self producing. The rabbit hutch was welded wire on 2x2's and 2x4's, the rabbit pellets were dumped in to the garden. The garden, te rabbits and the chickens were mine and my bothers projects. In Abilene in the 1950's we lived in town in house that had 2 lots, the second lot was our chicken house, rabbit hutches and garden. My bother and I sold eggs, live and butchered chickens and rabbits. Today the city would shut us down. I bet we had 30 rabbits and about the same chickens. For 2 grade school kids we made some good money.

Once the does are bread move the buck out of sight of the does. He'll be stressed out all the time if he is in the cage next to the does. He's a guy and only has one thing on his mind.
