Been looking online at stippling places and see anywhere from $250-$450 to stipple one gun. Since I have multiple Glocks I’d like to do I figured why not invest in the stuff to do it for $100 bucks and do them all. Starting off on AR grips I have lying in a drawer that I’ll never use. First attempt turned out way better than I expected after seeing some of the stipple jobs online. My edge work and borders need a lot of work but practice practice practice I will. Before After

Would a hot iron for wood burning be easier than a rotary tool?

Looks good, how long does it take to do it? I was just practicing last night and did 2 grips took about 1 1/2 hours but only did one side of the grips. Also was trying out a bunch of different tips too. So probably about 45 minutes per side if I knew exactly what the plan was going in and what tip I was going to use. Looks good.
I'll buy that grip off you when you're done. still need to do the other side I’ll bring it out when you get a free minute with my drill bits

Would a hot iron for wood burning be easier than a rotary tool? For just outlining around the stippling when you’re done, but to get the recessed borders you need to use the engraving/carving tips. I need the 108, I think I have the 105 tip and it’s a bit big.

Here is a A2 grip I did with the thin burner tip for the borders. It kind of just melts and doesn’t stay strait at all.

So you do this with a soldering iron type of tool? That takes a steady hand.

I like the top one a lot!
I stippled a couple Pmags one day. I do not have the patience for that.

Lol, soft/no borders would be a breeze. Basically just make a design with a pencil and stipple to the pencil line and done. I'm not touching any guns just yet. The first one I'll be doing is my G34 and go over the stippling job someone else did to it before I bought it. I've never really been a fan of it. Whats the worst that can happen LOL.. Looks pretty good to me and I bet it feels good in the hand. It feels great in the hand, much better than the little tiny micro dots that are on my G34 right now. Lol. Got me a pyrography kit for Christmas too. Relaxing stuff Lol maybe its the fumes it puts off from the burning plastic. I need to wear a mask next time. Dang good start. I've got zero skill for something like that. You should try it bud! pretty fun.
