Placed an order with them earlier this week. Instead of boxing the shells, they sent me a bulk plastic bag and a canvas pouch with two folded boxes. Order was short a shell. Contacted them, awaiting response. We’ll see how they pattern but so far, not overly impressed.

A case of 200? I did not count them. How short?

1 shell. Not a huge loss but still. Not a fan of being sent a trash bag full of shells either, that’s what prompted me to count and inspect.

I think I remember seeing some type of label (like bulk) or something at checkout. For the price they should kill them at 15 yards at to 80 yards with the same choke on any shotgun. LOL. My post 14 A5 with a carlsons waterfowl choke doesn't pattern as well as I would like, but I bought them and will shoot them until they are gone.

Kent bismuth is as good, if not better I have been using it in my 16 gauge and 28 all year on ducks and geese. Nr 5 in 16 and nr 6 in 28 Newer Sweet 16 browning by far the best gun I have ever owned.

Been shooting Kent bismuth. Thought I’d try Boss. Looks like I may fall in with Topwater. Shoot them till they’re gone and stick with Kent.

I didn’t take that to mean plastic bag but oh well.

Bismuth has been there for a loooong time. Now the prices have gone down, its a terrific load.
Their marketing plan is working: made in USA, many guides swearing by them all over social media.
Bismuth is quieter, and kicks 30-40% less so your barrel wont jump at all on your second/third shot, which is crucial. Metrogun will be 85% quieter and no kick at all. The industry is clearly geared more towards less kick, less noise, more kills.
Having said that: tungsten matrix, together with heavy shot are hands down the best load out there, and on all above mentioned loads, to save you some money, 2 3/4 is plenty.
On decoying ducks within 25 yards, rio blue steel is very good.
I went with 100% bismuth all year, cause of the lack of ducks.

This isn't an in their defense post, but stuff I've learned and passing it on.
That is a waxed bag, called a money bag, which is essentially waterproof. They add that, a ~$30 value to use instead of boxes. They wanted to cut down on waste. There should of been a couple of boxes in the bag though so you can box them if you'd prefer, unless they quit doing that.
Their case is 200 shells instead of 250 so if anyone is going to Canada they can just take a full case since Canada's limit is 200 rounds. Makes sense since they're out of Montana?.
I'm surprised about 1 short, they usually throw in 3 or so extra so you can pattern with. You said you contacted them, you need to call Meg, she's the customer service and awesome to work with.
Brandon, the owner, recommends a full choke and a lot of people say their factory full patterns the best. Bismuth is more like lead than steel, so it likes to be constricted.
Hope you get it all worked out though, let us know how well they drop the ducks though. Did you order the 2 3/4 #5s?

I use mod on bismuth, best pattern within 45 yards. It will shoot like IC or even C compared to steel. The baggy, boss thingy, 200 amo for canada is bull crap. 87% of boss USA buyers dont care and wont go to canada anyway, its just a marketing plan to differentiate yourself, heck, many USA hunters buy the amo in canada. Go back to 25 or even 30 in the box. That was a major fail. The old skool box worked, the amo works, it really does, but compared to a kent bismuth, same thing. Boss marketing dude is still a God.

Whats all that hype about Boss Ammo. Like all them Duck Dynasty Millennials are swearing by them. What happened to the 3 1/2 inch hypersonic public shooters, they all switched? Bismuth has been around for decades, now cheaper combined with an old skool marketing plan. Boss is good, boss is all about branding. Kent bismuth is better, tungsten and heavy shot about 12-15% better.
When are them millennials going to understand that shooting ducks needs to be done properly within 20-40 yards.
I guess im getting old.
Having said that, on my Illinois trip, Dog was desperately hoping I shot them specks at 45 yards with the old skool 16 gauge, loaded with nr 5 kent bismuth....it folded them like butter.
The biggest advantage on bismuth is that you can go with much smaller loads, more pellets. Boss is selling nr 6 now, and all sold out. Just saying. I called my buddy at Kent, and nr 6 is in the making. Tungsten still way better, but the material still too expensive

I can barely justify buying bismuth, definitely not tungsten. Having shot steel for many years, I can say I have noticed that bismuth crushes them compared to steel, this being my first season shooting bismuth. Most of my passing shots have been bang, splash. Rather than bang, feathers or a cripple swimming. They pattern well out of my LM, Kent that is.

I have much better results with bismuth compared to tungsten, tungsten kicks like a motha man, good lord. If chuck Norris was still alive, he be shooting nr 9 lead

It's all marketing, they bought up the social media hash tag whores to pimp their product and now they are an overnight success.
I'm sure they make decent shells, pattern them and you'll kill ducks with boss. But the same same can be said on just about any shell on the market.

It's strictly word of mouth and people are that impressed. They're a success bc bismuth is better than steel and anyone with an open mind will see that.

You going to use that code? Seems like they're trying to do right. Were you pleased with how they handled the call?

Marketing did get their name out their but it helps to have a solid product. The best part about all of this like some have mentioned before is it's no longer $4 a shell. Hevi Metal's pattern better out of my setup than Boss shells. I can only shoot 2 3/4" out of my 20ga so i like Rio Blue Steel #5's with a patternmaster short range. I understand all the hype over the new non-toxic loads because they are all a better product than steel shot.

Received my second round of the bulk yesterday. No way I am counting shells. I like the way they performed. Not magical but I do enjoy not having to water swat them to finish them off.

Extremely clean. Brandon, the guy that owns Boss is very smart and a go getter. He's not satisfied with something unless it's the best.
