I've had more foggy hunts than any season I can remember. Of the 5 or 6, only once did I have a good one - grey duck beat down. One other time it actually burned off in time to get good. Rest of the times it sucked as expected. Here's to you, fog! 🖕

Yesterday it was so thick I had to run with my headlight off. It can get you real disoriented, too, trying to get across the lake. So glad for GPS or no way that trip happens.

There, maybe that'll give us something to talk about.

Or maybe we can discuss why in this pic Rosie's head looks so damn big, like an underfed catfish. And what the heck is going on with her belly? Is that a beer gut?

All but one of our hunts in Texas were foggy. Are Kansas hunts weren't foggy but it was warmer there than here. The one non-foggy hunt we had woodies and greenheads come in pretty regularly, but we couldn't get dead on the x so it was a tough shoot.

No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.

I can remember one morning with my pops 10-15 years ago where we took off into the fog. No GPS, just a kid at the front of the boat to make sure we didn't run into trees. After 45 minutes of driving ended up back at the ramp. I could not believe my eyes. We decided to wait till it got light out after that.

Fog is the worst. Glad you still smacked a few.

I was with ya'll...I was telling someone the other day about that morning...driving in circles for an hour and had no idea.

Attention rickym, this is not a troll post, just a good hearted fun type of post

Ha ha, I've been there.

The worst one I was on was about 10 years ago on a big lake right between TX and OK. We were in my brother's boat and he had GPS on his Lowrance. He couldn't even follow his trail maker it was so bad. We were doing loops the whole way out.

About half way to the spot on open water, all of a sudden we hear a boat hauling arse and it's getting louder and louder. We all got our flashlights and were trying to let that boat know where we were, but we really couldn't tell what direction it was coming from. Out of the fog a boat came whizzing by about 20 feet in front of us... full throttle no lights on. Never even slowed down.

Never again like that. I'll make a short run or one that I can hug the shoreline, but no more running across a big lake for me.

I would rather stay home than hunt fog. It's dangerous and usually sucks.

When I was a kid we hunted black creek lake in LBJ grasslands. The most dangerous time was driving to the grasslands. Usually, we were the only one there. It was mostly ringnecks and teal but it was fun hearing the ducks fly over before the came in. You had to guess where the were.

Same for me this year. One morning had a moon so bright it was easier to see through the fog with the boat lights off.

The other mornings have been black hole departures off the ramp into soup. A little eerie, but I'm thankful for GPS those mornings.

Hate fog. Been out a few times solo this season in the fog, I leave my lights on, but slow down to a crawl.

I have a tendency to go right in the fog, to go strait and stay on GPS, I feel like I’m always turning left. When I first started duck hunting 15 years ago, walk in hunting I did not have a GPS. I took off through the woods off trail to get to a spot, I went full circle and ended up right back at the access point. I said that is it, went strait to Acadamy and bought hand held GPS. And yes, I made a circle to the right, just like fog.

I've only had one hunt in the fog this season, somehow... It was a decent hunt. Ended up with 4 ducks.

Same, Luckily the spot I was hunting was a marsh pond that you literally have to follow a little cut that's about 3ft wide at the widest and then your in the pond...

Yup, no fog. Still was able to shoot a limit thanks to a double dozen teal landing.
