Figure about fifty bucks an acre.

Thanks Cast. Just doing the roads and fenceline, any guess what a fair hourly rate would be?

$65/hour on my bigger tractor, $50/hour on my smaller tractor ... plus $1.00 a mile hauling one way if over 10 miles (first 10 miles free) up to 50 miles ...

$40 to $75+ per hour depending on all sorts of variables.

Easy truck/trailer access & decent unloading / loading area.

Fairly smooth field, grassy light brush - lower end
Steep ground / embankments / drop offs, tight close quarters, field conditions that impede normal shredding forward speeds - mid range.
Rough field, heavy grass brushy to heavy material - mid to higher end.
Does the job require use of FEL / grapple & root rake / rock rake to move debris prior to shredding or move shredded materials into piles - high end
Rough fields of unknown condition or with large rocks, tree deadfall, stumps, wire, pipe or other ground contaminants - high end +

Your typical rough deer lease unknown ground conditions, initial cut or maintained once per year - $50 to $65 per hour.
Of course that depends on area.

Those that do this work as stated above. Do you stay booked up pretty solid? I absolutely love mowing and have time now. Is it worth it? Can you make any money. Years ago I did hay. You can stay as busy as you want, but can’t make much money.

Please forgive JJH, not trying to highjack your thread.

On a new job, I would estimate about one acre per hour. Any faster on strange terrain will likely damage your equipment or kill you. After the ground is cleaned and familiar, you can go faster and mow two acres per hour. So figure $50 an hour to start. After the same guy cuts it several times and feels confident to increase cutting speed, he can get easily lower his rate.

I think the best way to get bids is per acre.

No problem. More data is better!

Thanks for the input gentlemen. Very helpful.

A good friend of mine from La. started a Shredding business a couple of years ago, post his technology career. Give him a shout if you need, he's very competitive with the prices shown. He lives here in The Mound.

Another option if available to you in your area.....I rent a tractor and 7 foot shredder for two days (16 hours of running time). The rental company (in Uvalde) delivers and picks up....total bill is around $1000 shared by all the hunters on the lease. I spend the whole time shredding roads, senderos, fence lines, and common areas around camp. I probably put about 25 miles on it and burn 20 gallons of diesel; and enjoy every second of it.

years ago, I had a medium size tractor with several implements (shredder, plow, tiller, box & angle blade, post hole digger, etc.) and I ran an ad in the local paper (if that tells you how long ago it was) and lined up various jobs for either after work hours or weekends. I made some decent extra money to add to my play money fund. I haven't advertised in years, mostly word of mouth by friends that know I have tractors and I pick and choose which things I want to do when I have time (not much) more to help people out than to make a business out of it. I might take it more seriously once I retire from my regular job for extra funds or bartering.
