We are going to recover a couch with a kinda mixed material look. Would it be disrespectful to use part or all of a Texas flag?

Texas law says the flag cannot be used for bedding or drapery. It does not say anything about being used as fabric. Sec. 3100.070. LIMITATIONS ON DISPLAY. (9) be used as bedding or drapery;

Google says yes. It is disrespectful. https://www.mlive.com/news/muskegon/2015/07/5_things_to_know_about_display.html1. What not to do with the image of the flag Do not put the image of the flag on any advertisement at all. Do not put the flag on things such as a napkins or handkerchiefs that are meant for waste cleanup. Do not use the flag as a table cloth or towel. Do not wear the flag as a costume, on a costume or have it embroidered on any article of clothing. The flag can only be used as a decoration on clothing as an emblem on military uniforms. Do not put the image of the flag on any type of furniture cushion. This is disrespectful because you actually sit on the flag.

Nope, his post is with respect to the US flag, not the Great State of Texas flag. Go for it - heck put all six flags of Texas on your couch. Will make for some great conversation.

The fact that you asked pretty much answers your question. Yes, I would say it is disrespectful. I wouldn’t do it just because I love Texas.

Don't disrespect the flag - intentionally or unintentionally. Rely on your instincts. If you have to ask, don't do it. There is a reason you went out and asked this and that's because you knew it might be an issue.

Most people just ignore the actual rules, but you really shouldn’t. Most who leave out their flags at night do not illuminate and on and on.... First, he posted rules for the American flag, not the Texas flag JP is asking about. Second, the American Legion says it’s fine to wear articles of clothing that look like the American flag, such as a bathing suit or shirt. https://www.legion.org/flag/questio...r-item-clothing-looks-united-states-flagQuestion: Is it permissible to wear an item of clothing that looks like the United States flag? Answer: Unless an article of clothing is made from an actual United States flag, there is NO breach of flag etiquette whatsoever. People are simply expressing their patriotism and love of country by wearing an article of clothing that happens to be red, white, and blue with stars and stripes. There is nothing illegal about the wearing or use of these items.

I think it's disrespectful but let your conscience be your guide.
