My wife brought this up just the other day...

Don’t seem like a bad idea

She found bbq, Italian and something else they taught.

Idk where, some place in dfw.

Anybody ever do one? Worth it?

I been down to learn some good Italian food recipes

I get them for my wife a few times a year and she always enjoys them. They also send you home with the recipes for what was made that evening.

I wouldn't be against it.

I like trying new things, I just search for what I want and try a couple and incorporate it into the mix.

Closest I've come was a kitchen knife class years ago at a culinary school when I lived in Austin. Learned a lot and would recommend a knife class before recipe classes.

Throw in a bottle of wine, and you could make it a date night!

I’ve always wanted to take a knife class. Myron Mixon’s bbq class would be cool too. He’s obnoxious but knows what he’s doing.

I’ve never really been interested in cooking classes in the states, but I’m looking at a few next door in Thailand. You can learn new ingredients, recipes, methods etc then get a full body massage then get toasted all at the same place.

Growing up as a military dependent there were a lot of War Brides from WWII. The mothers of the kids came mostly from the USA, but included those from Germany, England, Italy, France and other countries. A pot luck dinner was really an international pot luck dinner, not to mention the diversity of the USA culinary delights. The wives would swap recipes and taught the others their secrets.

That was the type of cooking classes my mother attended.

I think I could give lesson on knives. I can and have shown you how to bone a whole turkey and butterfly quail. I can fillet a red fish redfish with knives with blades as short as a pocket hnife. I can skin, quarter a deer in 15 minutes, leaving, 2 boneless backstraps, 2 tenderloins, two bone in front qurters, and 2 bone in hind quarters.

I've taught a lot of people how to clean animals and fish, pretty quick at it myself. smile I'm talking about the culinary aspect of using knives in the kitchen like professional chefs.

The wife and I have taken 'em in Italy and France. Making pasta from scratch is a PITA, but I've done it. 'Couldn't tell you how to do it, we were all drinking too much. The other Americans in the class got on their little Vespas and weaved on outa there. roflmao

The guy in France taught in a French market. 'Wasn't Dijon, or Paris...I can't remember where. There were only a couple of women with the wife and I in the class, and they were over the moon giddy. The guy could cook, and, although I'm as straight as an arrow, even I'll admit, the dude was gorgeous. He was flat-out killin' it in that little market.

I can make a killer pot of beef stew and pork ribs on the smoker

Other than grill meats, it’s all I got.

I’ll see where it goes, I’m down to learn something

several years ago, we had 4 couples do an evening cooking class at a place in Austin, like a couples group evening event out. We showed up, each couple picked a dish to prepare, a chef was assigned each couple and walked us thru making that one dish. At the end of the evening, we had 4 dishes prepared, ready to cook ... each meal was a serving size for 8 people. We took home and froze for later. Then once a month, each couple hosted the other 3 couples and served the prepared dish.

It was fun to learn new dishes that I wouldn't normally attempt but it made for about 5 months of an evening enjoying with friends.

I will see if I can track down what the place was called ...
