Looking into going on an out of state archery hunt in 2020 or 2021. Having a hard time figuring out just where i want to go.
Where have you guys gone before? Did you use an outfitter/who? Looking for any an all information on out of state whitetail hunts. Have hunted the Texas Hill Country for the last 30. I'm looking to break into the 150 class deer and it just doesn't seem to be an option for my lease.
Thanks

I really enjoyed my time with Richard at Triple Creek Outfitters in St. John, Kansas. The archery season falls over Halloween and all the locals say that is the best time to hunt the deer up there. Something about that time of year makes those deer do weird things.

Absolutely Pheasants in South Dakota also does deer hunts. I believe that the past several SD state record whitetails have come from his property. Ask for Stowe

The ' Milk river' area of eastern Montana. Lots of deer and some dandies to boot. Hunt up in the cottonwoods next to alfalfa fields. Hundreds of deer.

We might be able to help you out if South Dakota or Nebraska would be an option. Give me a shout or feel free to look at our website. www.huntsd.net

You might also look for a hunt up in the panhandle. When I hunted the panhandle I passed on several bucks in the 150 class because I was looking for something bigger. They are up there if you're on the right ranch.

Wyoming archery season is in Sept. How about hunting whitetails that may still be in velvet? We have lots of areas that can be drawn for whitetail with 0-1 PP and a DIY hunt is easy. Eastern Wyoming and the Black Hills have plenty and access is not hard in the Black Hills. You may find private land access for a very reasonable fee for whitetails. No outfitter or guide needed unless you just want one.

Go shoot one of those monsters in Alberta, they are small horses. Alberta is a good choice for BIG deer but be ready for the possibility of blizzard type weather & cold you probably have never seen. Been there, done that.

Thanks Eastern CO. One of the best places to spot and stalk archery Whitetails. Also one of the better places to push 40” of massmark

we passed on buying a great hunt this weekend at Briar Creek ranch in Ohio.
Looked like they have a pretty good outfit.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

That would be my choice, Ohio or maybe Iowa.

Mississippi is a great state to hunt. Liberal bag limits, Reasonable out of state license cost. Tons of public land.
If your a trophy hunter look for area around the MS River or Big Black River.

Eastern Wyoming is a great place to hunt whitetails plus you have a chance at a mule deer. There are alot of whitetail in the eastern side of the state and you should have a good chance at a 150-160 class buck.
Tags are easy to get and you can get an outfitter at a reasonable fee or you can do a self guided hunt on the public land. The first year I would get an outfitter or find someone who knows the area to take you the first year just to get the lay of the land so to speak.

Yes good bucks are in Eastern Wyoming but finding a 150-160 is not easy. Access is way harder to find these days and not for free anymore for a NR. Not tons of public land but some to be had and some HMAs and walkin areas. I used to be able to make some calls and get access for whitetails pretty easy, not anymore. Blue tongue and other disease have knocked them back in some areas, doing great in others You'll have to draw the tag. Type 3 tag is whitetail only.
