When I got into competition shooting I planned more so shooting 3Gun so I went with a Glock 34 in 9mm. I’m trying to get into USPSA and have my belt with holster and mag carriers already setup for the Glock. Because of the minor/major power factor of the limited division in USPSA Limited the 9mm is going to hamstring me.

I can not afford a 2011 in 40 or that would be my first choice so I have 2 options.

Option one - Police trade in G35 40cal and upgrade everything from the ground up like my 34. Would cost about $1000 total. Then my holster and mag carriers would still work.

Option two - tanfoglio limited custom in 40cal which is basically made for the limited division. Found them for $1095. But would need 3 extra mags, mag carriers, extended mag base, and holster. So closer to $1400ish.

Which would you do?

The Limited Custom is sexy too.

I'd be interested in coming out to watch some time Kyle. Let me know of next matches if you would.

Yeah that tanfoglio is clean. I’ve never shot one, but if it shoots anything like it looks, I’d prefer it over the block.

It is kinda of a pick your poison thing. I use a plastic gun cause it is easy, works, and cheap. A couple of years ago glocks went 1 and 3 at the nationals, so they can be shot at the highest levels, however most people agree that the metal guns are a little easier to shoot. Another plus is that if you already have a rig for the glock that will save a bunch of money. But, if you want a steel gun you never be satisfied with a plastic one. Also look on enos forums and practiscore classifieds there are some good deals on used guns there too.

Next one I’m shooting is the 18th next Saturday. It’s up here in Bells Tx right behind Grayson County Speedway. You’re welcome to come watch me get my [censored] handed to me lol. I’ll be shooting the 34 Saturday so will be scoring minor.

Lol yea it looks pretty awesome, but I’m also a Glock lover. Every pistol I own is a Glock besides a 1911 22 pistol. Ben Stoeger shoots the Tanfo and he wins championships with it. But of course he is a badass and I’m just Kyle lol.

I’m perfectly fine with plastic. I love Glocks. I’ve been searching Enos and Practiscore and no 2011’s in my range at the moment. A couple close but they’re beat to [censored] and probably 20k rounds down them.

You should come up too. Look for XMG USPSA on practiscore and register.

I don't have any of the gear and would want to get an idea of what it is all about before giving it a try. Do you compete also?

They have a production division for guns that are not modified besides any internal work. So bring your XD and the double mag carrier you got with it and put a mag in your pocket. You’re good to go.

Did you read buzz??? I already have a 9mm comp gun I need a 40cal for limited. Plus 1911 would put me in single stack division which sucks. Did that with a 45 and it’s constant reloads. Not too fun.

Really depends on if you want to stick with the Glock or go a different direction. I’m not convinced that the gun makes a whole lot of difference—I am an A class shooter and a couple months ago at a club match I shot a bone stock XDM 40 5.25 and finished like 7 match points behind a Master class shooter with a custom 2011

When I bought CZ mags 6 moths ago (had a SP01 setup for Carry Optics), they were $30 each and I didn’t add base pads. I think the $1400 figure you got in mind for the tanfo setup is a little on the cheap side. If you want to go full on Limited, a holster is going to be at least $150 and basepads for your mags will be about $40 each.

I typically shoot Limited with a Para 16-40. That might be something else to consider, although mags can be tough to find.

Kyle, I don’t know chit about the guns/regs, etc. but saw you mentioned single stack in 1911’s,,,RIA makes a double or ‘staggered’ (I think) that holds 18 (another I think) rounds in 9 mm.

Yea I might have been a little conservative on the quote for the Tanfo. I was planning on using the CompTac holster on a Ben Stoeger BOSS hanger which is what I use for my Glock so I’d really just need the $60 holster. Also think the safari land mag carriers would work fine with the Tanfo mags. So might not have to switch all the gear out just buy a new holster. But yes at $70 a mag for mag and extension I might have been a little conservative on guesstimating.

Thinking of possibly just shooting production division with my G17.

Just sat down and priced everything out. Including gun, extra mags, apex trigger, ZEV competition spring upgrade, Dawson precision sights, Dawson precision mag extensions, Dawson precision ICE magwell, 4 extra mags because the police trade in only comes with 1 mag. Comes out to $1018 and can still use all my belt gear.

Did the same with the Tanfo and including the gun, 4 mags with grams springs and henning extended bases, holster and 3 mag carriers and went ahead and threw in another belt because I’m not buying ELS for all this new stuff would cost a small fortune by itself. It came out to $1664 total.

Everything I just listed I’d do to the 35. 34 is stippled too which I’d probably do to the 35 after a while but not right when I got it.

You could pop the magwell off and shoot production with that one... or take the magwell off and add a dot and shoot Carry Optics....
