And stay away from Bobbyguy films on YouTube, he's not good for the sport in my opinion.
Any particular reason?
He hunts for views and stuff like that for his channel. The challenge stuff is a bit ridiculous too. There's more to it than that too, just need to form your own opinion.
Wait a minute....if your going to bash a guy do it on some substance. I've watched a lot of his videos and its just entertainment for me. I've seen him talk about picking up your shells, not sky blasting, setting up to close to others ( things we all get frustrated with). Mentioning views is retarded, I don't know of ANYONE running a U tube channel that doesn't want views. Several have now made it their business...making waterfowl videos. I can see if your turned off by the business side of it but then you need to throw a lot of people (guides, outfitters Utubers etc) under the bus.
I have plenty of substance, I don't like the guy, and there's a lot that don't. I've formed my own opinion of his channel and I think he's a tool and bad for the sport.
Going on my second time trying to hunt ducks. Going public land and going to take my kayak out. Not planning on getting anything or even seeing ducks. But hopefully the ducks gods let me get my first duck.
How was it? Let me warn you, the ducks gods are not gonna just give it to ya, they are gonna mess with ya for a while.

nothing but this is my first season every hunting. Dont really have everything to hunt successfully or the knowledge. Trying to get a guide before the season ends to learn from a experienced hunter.

I know for your first hunt you went in the afternoon. Did you go in the morning this time? Mornings are always better than in the afternoon
It was, the guide was very helpful and explained everything we were doing. Learning how to read decoys, calling tips, and setting up a a frame. Most def hooked.
We were in a frame in the morning on another tank but the video was to dark so I left it out only got one. Heard the mallards at another tank so we took off to that one and that's what's in the video.
correct 5 mallards one spoon, he gave me his mallard since I was going to eat them and wanted to give the spoon to his friend. I think from facebook if I can remember. Been talking to many guieds but he was the only one who was okay with a single hunter.
Hey NK, welcome to duck hunting and your first kills...and you got banded ducks too, lucky you. As a new hunter, safety is the most important thing ..always and always. I hope I'm not overstepping my place on this board (lurking awhile, first time poster) but saftey is most important always and always. See your video at the 3:20 mark when you are going into the blind. It looks like the gun is pointing at the guide an dog...may be wrong. Rule 1...always treat every gun all the time as loaded. Rule 2 - never point guns at anyone at anytime. Also, when you unloaded your gun, it looks like you left the chamber shut on you automatic. As a rule of thumb I personally always leave the chamber open unless it is loaded for hunting. Again, hope I did not overstep and hope you take this for what it's meant to be...now go out and have a great time hunting and spreading the word on waterfowl hunting. Cheers...Txlenchs

No worries could have sworn I pointed the barrel down to the dirty going in the blind but maybe I didn’t. Also I was in the army and currently in LE and we always keep the bolt closed to prevent dirt and dust so because you do it one way should automatically make be someone who is unsafe at handling firearms.. That’s what I was thought in the army and at the academy and I always over rack my weapons to make sure they are clear. So 8 years in the army plus 6 years in my LE job of closing the blot is what I am used to. Sorry if to some is unsafe but there’s a reason why some of use who used weapons a lot do it, hard habit to break.
So correct me if I'm wrong but all the mallards you shot were banded, not USF&WS bands but private bands...pen raised and then flight trained birds...kept penned and fed grain daily then released to fly to water and for shooters if they are paying ?
The “guide” frantically running like a wild boar through these cow patties to his “blind” cauz Pedro accidentally opened the banded mallard cage is legendary and somehow amusing. His “calling” is epic as well, so is his “dog” struggling now with impaired hearing.
Having said that, your posts are honest and thank you for your service.

Okay, I finally watched the video in its entirety without skipping around. That was a total CF.
The only thing I really saw that you did that I wouldn't approve of is you shot right over his dog. I'll admit that dog was about worthless, but still.
What kind of band did you shoot? I feel like tophorsecop is right and those weren't wild ducks. Y'all were looking directly into the sun, any wild bird would of been flaring 60+ yards out. I feel like anyone worth a lick of sense would of gone to the other side of the pond and sat under the shadows of the mesquite.
And that calling he did, wtf. I'm a newb to it all myself, but that was the worst call I've ever heard, and I'm not exaggerating.
I'm glad you had fun and you're hooked but do not think that that was duck hunting. If you were closer I'd volunteer to take you this Saturday to see what it's more like. It's a woodie blitz with a possible opportunity at a few mallards, but it's nothing like that. It's shooting at decoying birds versus pass shooting.
So,.... I am truly curious about this. This is a thing? I watched the video and was wondering the entire time how on earth mallards were working with the guide bumbling around and his dog running crazy. So they pen raise them and release. I get that part. Do the ones that don't get shot come back to the release site? I would assume they would make you pay for all the birds released like a quail shoot? They had to have told you that these were released birds?
