^^^^^^ Have you never heard of skimmers? Bad guys use them on gas pumps, ATM's and any other device that might require you to enter a PIN. The skimmer by itself wont get your PIN. They need a tiny camera aimed at the keypad as well. It's my understanding skimmers target credit cards,not debit cards.

At the end of the day, Debit card #'s and PIN's are stolen every day, regardless of how they are acquired. It doesn't change the differences in liability between Credit cards and Debit cards for the victim. Charlie

Skimmers can also be a replica that installs over the real keypad and your PIN is recorded from that device. There are many ways to steal your data, but I agree with CharlieCTx that credit cards are better than debit cards at getting transactions cancelled.

My credit score has soared the last few months. Think it’s up to 475  when it hits 500 the wife told me I only have to sell blood once a week instead of twice a week.

serious one upper potential on this thread. I always carry two stacks of cash in my wallet. If a robber get the drop on me, I want him to be very happy with the transaction and not have to drag me to an ATM with a gun in my mouth to provide my PIN.

With the exception of a small mortgage (3.2%) which we are paying off in 5-6 years, we do not like to finance things. We use our credit cards then pay off the balance well in advance of the due date. About three years ago, I rolled my old truck and had to replace it. Our truck fund was short of what I needed, so I did finance $20K at 2.9% which is almost free money.
Last I checked was two years ago when bought our home - our score was over 800. We are not wealthy so it takes a few years to save up to buy a car.

Dave Ramsey always teaches to pay cash vs using credit cards, even if you do pay them off monthly His main reason for teaching this is that he understands the vast majority of people will eventually fall in to not paying the balance off as described above. The reason is you pay cash for an item you fell the sting of your cash leaving your hand, vs using plastic where you give nothing for an item. Makes sense to me

Everybody post your credit scores up 850, I run all my expenses through my BOFA rewards card and pay off balance monthly. Cash back = $1k annually. It helps that I have a Citibank and Chase card with +$30k credit limits that I only use to keep them active. I don't need a credit score. I take home four thousand dollars more than I spend each month. Credit card and debit card are for convenience. Remember when everyone wrote checks for their groceries. Can you put me in your will?
