Fox Business reported that the credit scores in 2019 were at the highest levels ever. I have no idea what my score is. Never had a need to know. You?

Last time I checked my score it was 785. That was a couple years ago so I assume it's about the same now. I don't worry about it.

My bank gives me a monthly report on our score. It is good to keep an eye on it occasionally because if there is a big drop, it could indicate something taking place without your knowledge.

I have a buddy that was just hit with identity theft. They opened 8 credit cards under his name and took control of one card that he already had. Over $18,000 had been charged up before he found out about it. Monitoring your credit is vitally important!

My credit score is doing just fine. I'd rather not have to use it.

With the exception of a small mortgage (3.2%) which we are paying off in 5-6 years, we do not like to finance things. We use our credit cards then pay off the balance well in advance of the due date. About three years ago, I rolled my old truck and had to replace it. Our truck fund was short of what I needed, so I did finance $20K at 2.9% which is almost free money.

Last I checked was two years ago when bought our home - our score was over 800. We are not wealthy so it takes a few years to save up to buy a car.

In general, if we don't have the money in the bank, we cannot afford it. (Courtesy of Dave Ramsey)

Very wise!

I locked down my credit several years ago. Easy and cheap protection.

Dave Ramsey always teaches to pay cash vs using credit cards, even if you do pay them off monthly

I would think that a debit card is more secure than than cash. I never carry cash anymore. I have a little stash but its safe.

I don't ever just check mine, it gets pulled when I apply for a loan on something is all I know of. Last time was in 2016 when I bought my current truck. Other than that I pay all my bills on time never missed a payment never been late etc. When we bought the truck they pulled my score and my wifes they were both a bit over 800. I haven't changed anything except added more good payment history so I assume it hasn't changed or got better.

His main reason for teaching this is that he understands the vast majority of people will eventually fall in to not paying the balance off as described above.

Debit cards are riskier than credit cards or cash. You should only use them for ATM usage and nothing else. You personally have more of a liability and risk exposure with a debit card than a credit card.

Someone uses your credit number unauthorized? Call the bank, charge goes away, you're out nothing. Credit card is typically not tied to anything.
Someone uses your debit card unauthorized? There's a greater chance of being at risk/responsible for that transaction, plus it's tied to your checking account usually. They go to an ATM get cash, your money, it's gone... bank isn't giving it back.

Check with your bank to confirm their T's & C's. I'm not perfect, I was wrong in '93 one time... awful experience.

I think the most secure is the pay iphone watch. bang hammer Everywhere I go these days the first question is am I paying with a app. its a big racket. I think there is something to these companies letting hackers in. In china , their credit score is their social score taken from their phones and internet activity. We would all be in the poor house.

Good credit is really simple. You hear all kinds of ways and things to do to get good credit.

All you need to do to get stellar credit is take a loan use a credit card and pay on time, that is it.

I don't need a credit score. I take home four thousand dollars more than I spend each month. Credit card and debit card are for convenience.

I've never seen an ATM machine that gave money without you having to enter a PIN number. The card is useless to a thief unless he also has your PIN.

^^^^^^ Have you never heard of skimmers? Bad guys use them on gas pumps, ATM's and any other device that might require you to enter a PIN.
