Me and some friends from Kentucky wanting to hunt feral hogs in NE Texas, prefferably within an hour of Yantis. Anyone have any suggestions ? Good public land near there ? would like to do some backpack camping, but if its near yantis we have accomodations.

While Texas is a very large state, there’s not as much public hunting as you might think. Most land is privately owned.

Hunters Creek Ranch in Mt. Vernon seems to have a very good reputation.

Good luck on your hunt!

The marsh area at Cooper lake has plenty of hogs. All you need is an annual public hunting permit and you're all set.
Can buy them anywhere license are sold

Montana is ~ 90M acres and has 30M+ acres of public hunting land.

Texas is ~ 172M acres. I think 1 out of 172 would fall into the "not as much as you would think" category.

He didn't ask about the whole state. There's plenty of good public land to kill hogs in that area if you're not lazy.
