Looks a lot like something we make.

1 head of cabbage
1 lb bacon
1 onion
1 shiner bock beer
salt and pepper to taste

Cube and cook bacon then add onion, cook a bit longer then add chopped cabbage salt pepper and beer, cover and simmer till tender

Love cabbage, just about anyway it is cooked. Cooked a batch for New Years day and finished off the leftovers Friday night. The OP's looks great and redchevy's sound good too.

My mother would clear out the entire house after eating a bowl of cooked cabbage.

My family has about 3 cabbage dishes we have at holidays the one I posted above, something called cold cup and runza I don't know the recipes for the others but I enjoy them both.

My grandfather on my mom's side loved cabbage. My brother and I spent a lot of time working with him during summers etc. a common snack would be a head of cabbage sliced into wedges Good stuff, makes me remember those days.

Cabbage rolls filled with sausage spiced meat is a meal to die for. They can be deep fried or baked. Had some at a friends house that were cooked sort of like a casserole with a sweet and sour sauce with enough cheese to clog the arteries.
