Did a Spot-N-Stalk Tuesday afternoon in the Sabine river bottom area, and came across a 200 lb plus hog. Previously, the owner had killed a 270 lb hog. At 50 yards the hog was not moving so I thought it was the one previously shot and dragged off; Tail was stiff, ears still, and no signs of breathing. At 40 yards still nothing. At 30 yards, I decided to ready my rifle. As soon as the safety came off, that Hog came alive and darted into the thicket. That rascal was gone in a flash! Laying flat on the ground, it was at least 2.5' tall at the shoulders and 6' Long body. One of the biggest I've seen there. Lesson learned...next time I'll place a shot to be sure it's dead. Luckily, it ran into the thicket. If it charged, not sure I could have gotten off a shot quick enough. I didn't score, but still made for an exciting hunt!!!!

Not much more exciting than sneaking up on a group of hogs in the dark. When that shot goes off and hades breaks loose. Pure adrenaline.

Should of jumped on it with your Bowie knife and rode him. Would have been a very short wild ride!
