Took 18 days for us to get this deer. My son finally had a shot on our last day. “Papa, I got big boy,” he said this morning at 7:37. “You have eyes on him or heard him go down,” I replied. “Yes sir, I am looking at him.” I sighed in relief. “I will be there in 10 minutes with the truck.”

He wants to get a shoulder mount, any recommendations? Looking for something relatively inexpensive. We live in Arlington.

You get what you pay for in this market place so I recommend you not go cheap if you shoulder mount it.......go to the taxidermy section and look at their work and ask for references.

Thanks for the kudos. He was mature and lived to pass on his genes. We let all young deer pass. Took a lot of work on my part to pattern this buck. Blake had orders to only take this or one other buck. All others were off limits. 18 days of patience.

I don’t have a lot of time to investigate a taxidermist as we are leaving town tomorrow. I called around today and very few guys were open to talk. I looked at reviews and from talking to a guy in Benbrook, I’m dropping him off there. This bill is going to be paid by my boy. I’ve done my part.
He left home for A&M this year and pulled a 3.7 as an engineering major. I lost my right arm when he left and he had no time to hunt until the semester was ended. I was thrilled to spend the time with him and this capped it off for us.

that's always fun when you finally knock down a deer after a season long hunt

Yes, I think I preferred it to play out this way. It gave me a lot to lol forward too. That said, it almost didn’t happen and that would have been really disappointing. I spent 29.5% of the days during the season hunting. That is a lot of time I could have worked.

This is a buck I rattled on 11/14. This gave us two bucks this year.

Thank. Talked to the taxidermist today and we know the score. Any guesses?
