I love all kinds of Whiskeys and Bourbon.
My favorites are Oban, Macallan 18, lagavulin 16, Blantons and Balcones blue corn bourbon. If I had to pick one, it would probably be Oban 18.
Included a photo of some of my stash.

I'm not a big fan of Scotch, or maybe I just haven't tasted many good ones?

I'm a fan of Buffalo Trace and Makers. On a non special occasion, those are probably what I'm reaching for. If I'm out, I'll try most anything.

I also like Jameson quite a bit. I know the Irish kind of thumb their nose at it, but I like it. In 2017 I went to the distillery and did a bottle your own thing and brought home a bottle of cask strength black barrel that is really good to me.

Following.

I don't drink enough to know what's "good"

I like Crown, 40 Creek and Jack Daniels.

I'd like to try Blanton's and Bookers.

Booker’s by a fair margin and now that there’s a Specs in my path to work I can get it for $66 instead of the $89-99 that it has been selling for when you can find it.

I'll qualify my response with the acknowledgement that my palette isn't terribly refined and I haven't tried near as many as some.

Cannot find Blanton anywhere. Now I am on Basil Hayden. Love it. Headed to KY for New Years.

Noah’s Mill is by far the best whiskey I’ve ever had.

There’s a new “inexpensive” whiskey called redneck riviera, it’s pretty good for what it is.

Those are all excellent brother in law. I have many bottles of each of those. Heaven hill and buffalo trace are great distilleries.
Keep your eyes open for the elija craig barrel proof. Its top notch but tough to find

Hudbone, in order to find blantons, you need to introduce yourself to the owner or manager of the liquor store and tell them you are interested in Blantons. Big chains are not the answer when looking for the hard to get stuff.
All my weller 12, blantons, stagg and yamazaki has come from small stores

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/If-by-whiskey

My friends, I had not intended to discuss this controversial subject at this particular time. However, I want you to know that I do not shun controversy. On the contrary, I will take a stand on any issue at any time, regardless of how fraught with controversy it might be. You have asked me how I feel about whiskey. All right, here is how I feel about whiskey:

If when you say whiskey you mean the devil's brew, the poison scourge, the bloody monster, that defiles innocence, dethrones reason, destroys the home, creates misery and poverty, yea, literally takes the bread from the mouths of little children; if you mean the evil drink that topples the Christian man and woman from the pinnacle of righteous, gracious living into the bottomless pit of degradation, and despair, and shame and helplessness, and hopelessness, then certainly I am against it.

But, if when you say whiskey you mean the oil of conversation, the philosophic wine, the ale that is consumed when good fellows get together, that puts a song in their hearts and laughter on their lips, and the warm glow of contentment in their eyes; if you mean Christmas cheer; if you mean the stimulating drink that puts the spring in the old gentleman's step on a frosty, crispy morning; if you mean the drink which enables a man to magnify his joy, and his happiness, and to forget, if only for a little while, life's great tragedies, and heartaches, and sorrows; if you mean that drink, the sale of which pours into our treasuries untold millions of dollars, which are used to provide tender care for our little crippled children, our blind, our deaf, our dumb, our pitiful aged and infirm; to build highways and hospitals and schools, then certainly I am for it.

This is my stand. I will not retreat from it. I will not compromise.

Who asked you how you feel about whiskey?

I agree, worst response possible to the original question. Actually doesn't even come close to answering or giving an opinion to the original question

He’s just quoting Wikipedia. Bills an elderly widower, cut him a break. He’s in his 80s.

There are whiskys I love, that I'm no longer willing to pay the price for like Macallen 21, it was $50 in the early 90's now $600. I recently had Linkwood 15 which was very good. I tend to keep my spending on whisky under $100 a bottle.

Many moons ago in Lakeway tx. Mister A, My Elderly Neighbor, A Retired Sun Oil Executive turned me on to Makers Mark. He would catch me doing laps on my lawnmower and bring me a glass full over ice. After a few laps I would start mowing the flower beds. Good stuff.

Certainly no aficionado but every now and then I enjoy some W.L Weller, for a cheap date Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch Reserve ($22.49 for a 1.75 L).
