Figured I would just make a thread for some videos I make. Mods can delete if it's not appropriate.

Keep up the videos, have you settled on a dog yet? with two big dogs you might want to go small. On the skeet, start it's fun.

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Totally agree with the other posts recommending skeet to master the fundamentals of wingshooting.
I’m sure there are skeet fields in the Round Top area that you can start with.
Check them out and before long, your shooting skills will improve so your shell to bird ratio will be more in your favor.

Well I decided to try out duck hunting for the first time. I have no idea what I am doing but I decided to give it a try. I picked up half dozen decoys from Academy and headed out. So if any of you all have the time can you give me some tips on what i should do better in the video? Especially when it comes to the decoys. Thanks

Set up with the sun behind your back and the wind at your back. If you can't do both, use sun at back and wind going across you. Ducks land into the wind, and have excellent eyesight. When landing into the sun though, that glare off the water blinds them. If you're going to hunt by yourself, you need to learn how to call. Youtube has decent videos, but the best I found was bad grammar academy. It costs money, but it has helped immensely. I also have some CD's from RNT that are nice additions. Everywhere you go in your vehicle, just try work on calling. You can also practice without the call too. I'd go buy one good call, and learn on it. My favorite call so far is a 737 chief. If you go on long drives, listen to the HP Outdoors podcast, they have some good general info. Hunt first thing in the morning, that first flight is usually the best around here.
Decoys need motion, birds see motion well, so either a swimming decoy, jerk string, whatever. #1 thing though, you need to be where the ducks want to be. In all honesty, you need nothing but a gun if you're in the right place.

I didn't want the sun in my face but the wind was blowing my back so that's why i decided to stay. in the video i moves more to the left because of the sun and took the cross wind just like you said. So at least my rookie [censored] did that lol. my drives to work are around 35-40 min so i am always listening to podcast but haven't found a hunting one, so thank you for that. I plan on going in the morning on my next days off especially after this cold front that just hit. With this first season ever hunting at least I want to get my duck calling somewhat good/decent for next year when I plan to get more into it.

I know some of yall hate these youtube videos but instead of just come and asking for tips and stuff, I am at least willing to put in some grunt work and try to figure some stuff out on the field and then ask for some pointers on the videos. Trust me any tips or help is going to help me a lot and really do appreciate it. Cheers!

You do not need to keep a wing on for dove. But I normally just put my dove on ice whole until I get home, I clean them when I get home, same for duck. If I'm on the road hunting and get bored I will clean my birds, or if I need to make room in my ice chest I will clean them on the road. But when I clean a pile of dove, I first cut all the wings off all the birds, then I breast them.

NeKro the hardest thing about killing ducks is first finding the ducks, scouting... Find a pond holding ducks the day before, you can set up and kill them the next day.

OnX has been a good help. I can drop scouting waypoints, go check it out and record my findings. I can also add pics to a waypoint so I can keep my holes straight.

Going on my second time trying to hunt ducks. Going public land and going to take my kayak out. Not planning on getting anything or even seeing ducks. But hopefully the ducks gods let me get my first duck.

I've watched a lot of his videos and its just entertainment for me. I've seen him talk about picking up your shells, not sky blasting, setting up to close to others ( things we all get frustrated with). Mentioning views is retarded, I don't know of ANYONE running a U tube channel that doesn't want views. Several have now made it their business...making waterfowl videos. I can see if your turned off by the business side of it but then you need to throw a lot of people (guides, outfitters Utubers etc) under the bus.
