Well for the past 10 years I've been using an electric Mastercraft smoker and it's about done. I need a new smoker and need some opinions. First of all, don't smoke much, about 3 briskets, 8-10 chickens and a couple of prime ribs a year, so don't need anything to big and elaborate. Don't want a wood smoker but maybe a pellet or another electric??
Opinions please..I haven't kept up with new smokers so kinda lost...Thanks

I have gotten too old to mess with wood smokers, I will replace the Mastercraft with another Mastercraft. It is just too easy to get good results.

BGE. You'll never have to replace it and you can include it in your will.

I’ve been really happy with my Pit Boss pellet smoker. It’s about $500 and would fill your needs.

Need one that's easy to clean. The Mastercraft is a pain to clean.

I agree, I thought all of that stuff on the inside added to the taste? Love my electric Masterbuilt.

These are nice but $1,500 to use a few times a year may not fit into his budget (which I have no idea what that is).

The Rec Tec 340 is $600.00 and would be perfect for what he's doing. I have the 590 and love it. No tax and free shipping too. Which is nice.

They’re cheaper than I thought! But 340sq/in is tiny. The smallest I’d get, of theirs, is 700sq/in starting at $1,200.
I got 850sq/in of mine on sale for $450 from Lowe’s. 850sq/in I can cook a brisket and 3 racks of baby backs at once. Can’t imagine how little you have to cook on less than half that cooking area.
YMMV

That's understandable. I don't ever have the need to cook that much. I'm always doing a single brisket or pork butt, etc. so I don't need many sq inches, so the 590 works fine for me.

Cookshack makes a great electric smoker. They have commercial and residential products. Had one in each of our restaurants and never had any issues with them.
