I’ve been hunting public land until I find the right lease. Some of the areas are archery and shotgun only.

Has anyone here used an AR upper chambered in 410? If so, which one and how did it work for you?

Another option is a Henry in 410 but that’s double the cost.

I picked up an old bolt action Mossberg .410 for a hundred bucks at a pawn shop and it works just fine for public land squirrels and rabbits. Just a money savings suggestion.

If it boiled down to a .410 AR, I’d be looking at the best crossbow I could get honestly

I assumed he was going small game hunting. If he was going after deer or pigs, any shotgun gauge other than a 410 would still be legal and be a better choice.

Will get more range and lethality out of the 410.

True, though lugging that heavy 12 gets old at my age. Back in the day, going on patrol with the M60 was no big deal. Different story these days. Looking for something a bit lighter than the 12.

FWIW, a 410 slug delivers more than twice the KE than an arrow or bolt.

Well buy it if you want it, kill a bunch of critters, and let us know how it works.

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

Hoping those that have experience with these uppers will chime in as accuracy and reliability are a concern.

Spend the extra cash and buy the ATI Omni .410. I bought the IFC upper and it failed miserably to feed/eject with even the four rounds approved for the mag. It only accepts four brands of 2.5" shells. The ATI feeds and fires just about anything you put in it. I have not bought it yet, but Firearms News did a whole section on it last year.

The IFC upper uses modified .223 mags and therein lies the problem, the feed ramp is not correct for the .410 shell. The ejector is also not a good fit.

Last time I bought 410 shells for dove hunting they were crazy expensive. I haven't priced them in a while, but you might want to consider the cost of shells.

Any .410 semi is going to have difficulty cycling loads due to the low recoil and/or low amount of gas, depending on which action it uses. Not to say they won’t work but they tend to be picky and need ‘fine tuning’.
